Should be focusing on so we can come up with policies to address those issues.

Speaker 2

0:03

Alright, Johnny, if I'm a member of the public and I want to you know voice my opinion and be heard and see that reflected in the document, how do I go about doing that?

Speaker 1

0:13

So we have multiple ways.

0:14

So first would be an online on our city website.

0:17

There's a page dedicated to the general plan.

0:20

It's got the original plan, it's got the draft copy, and then it has a forum that the public can fill out to give us their comments directly.

0:27

They come directly to our office.

0:28

We also have public meetings, so we've been to several public meetings already.

0:32

We have our planning and zoning commission meetings coming up May 7th, May 21st, and then June 4th, uh, as well as the transit commission meeting on May 11th, and then the City Council meeting will be on June 16th.

0:45

Um besides that, we've been attending uh different events, we'll continue to attend different locations without throughout the city to get feedback from the public at general, uh just to get their feedback on the plan on the goals and objectives again, uh so we can gather all that information, put it in into that plan, and then present that to the city council.

Speaker 2

1:04

So I mean there's a lot of different ways the public could be using to get all this feedback.

1:08

So once all this feedback's happened, we've had these public meetings.

1:11

Uh what is the the next step after all the meetings?

Speaker 1

1:15

So next up is, you know, we we compile all the information that we've gotten so far.

1:19

We update it, we update the plan.

1:21

We've already updated the plan based on current conditions, right?

1:24

There's been lots of changes in the last 10 years, whether it's roads, parks, the water system, uh the city taking over the highway, there's been a lot of changes.

1:32

That piece has been updated.

1:33

Um we will update the goals, objectives, policies based on the feedback that we receive.

1:38

We get the planning and zoning commission to make the recommendation to council.

1:42

Uh hopefully if we can get council to approve that, then this will go to the voters in November.

1:46

I think uh November 3rd is the general election, and the voters will have the chance between now and then look at the plan and then vote on it on uh on November 3rd.

Speaker 2

1:54

All right.

1:55

So with all that said, what is the main takeaway that the public needs to know right now?

Unassigned speaker

2:00

I

Speaker 1

2:01

think main takeaway would be, you know, we need the public's help.

2:04

You know, this is it's important to have public feedback on these issues.

2:08

Uh, you know, we we're all residents here as well, we know what the what issues we're facing, whether there'd be water traffic, those are the big ones that I think we hear a lot.

2:16

More activities for the kids, so we talk about parks, you know, things like that.

2:19

So that's in the plan, but we want to make sure that everything that's in the plan actually is the priorities of the residents, that they have their voice heard so that when we go to council, we can say, you know, not only did staff look at this, not only did the government agencies look at this, but the public had a chance to look at this and may comment, and we've incorporated those comments into our plan.

Unassigned speaker
