The Bullhead City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 5:30 PM in the City Council Chambers. The meeting included presentations, public comments, a manager's report covering Proposition 416 and Memorial Day statistics, and unanimous approval of all action items, including a new police union contract, engineering for a right-turn lane, a UTV trailhead parking lot, board and commission amendments, memorial additions, the tentative budget, and a hotel incentive ordinance.
Call, please. All council members are present. All right, we're gonna call this uh meeting to order. We're gonna start with an invocation from Pastor Tim Amy. Did I pronounce that correct? From Community Lutheran Church. If you'd like to join us, please stand. A reading from First Thessalonians chapter five, verses twelve through fifteen. The Apostle Paul said, but we appeal to you, brethren, to respect those who labor among you and have charge of you and the Lord and admonish you. Esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves, and we urge you, beloved, to admonish the idlers, encourage the faint hearted, help the weak, be patient with all of them, see that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all. Let us pray. God of all nations. During this month of patriotic patriotic holidays, including Memorial Day, Flag Day, Juneteenth, and as we prepare for the Fourth of July. We ask that your spirit may guide our nation forward in justice and freedom, give to all our people the blessings of well-being and harmony, especially in this election year. And we lift this city council before you who govern Bullhead City. May they understand that their office is a position of trust from you, not for personal glory or profit, but for the service of the people. Keep us from cynicism, from selfishness, and let your Holy Spirit help them to use their authority to serve faithfully and promote the common good. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen. Please join me. Please be seated. All right, before we go to the call of the public, we have a uh presentation uh from Sheila Barger, a local artist. Sheila here. All right, you want to come meet me down here? Whoops. Oh, oh, anything so funny. Yeah. Okay. Hi, good afternoon. Um, my name is Jamie McKeon, and I am from the River Valley Artists Guild. Um I didn't know I was gonna be doing this, so I'm gonna read off this phone here. Am I talking in here all right? Yeah. Okay. Um the River Valley Artist Guild represents artists of all kinds in the Tri-State area. Um as a group, we are trying to support and expand the art community in our area. Uh currently, we give grants to local school teachers for art projects, music, and theater. Our goal is to financially support teachers who would like to do special projects with their students. So today we would like to present a painting of the Copper Silver Bridge, painted by one of our artists and board members, Sheila Barger. Um, we would like to thank Sheila for her dedication to the artist guild and to the community. Thank you very much. A little bit more about it. This is to represent the first gift that the guild is giving to the city. We're starting a new program called it's the utility boxes, and we're going to be doing 20 utility boxes throughout the city and making them go into the environment rather than being out, you know, standing out and be pop art. But this is the first piece of artwork. It's a strange view of it because it's what we see every day when we wake up. Uh looking down the river. So we as a first piece of artwork to the city, I give it to the mayor and the city council.
