The Bullhead City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers. The meeting included a proclamation, public comments, a manager’s report, unanimous approval of the consent agenda, and 8 action items all passed 7-0.
Good evening, everybody. This is Tuesday, October 1, 2024, 5 30 p.m., our regular scheduled council meeting, and call this meeting to order. Can I get a roll call, please? All council members are present. All right, we're gonna start with an invocation from Pastor Tim Ime from Community Lutheran Church. If you'd like to join us, please stand. Let us pray. Almighty God, Heavenly Father, bless these public servants of the Bullhead City Council. May those who hold power understand that it is a trust from you to be used not for personal glory or profit, but for the service of the people. Drive from us cynicism, selfishness, and corruption. Grant in your mercy just and honest government, and give us grace to live together in unity and peace. And Lord God, as the election day is swiftly approaching upon us, help us elect trustworthy leaders, participate in wise decisions for our common life, and serve our neighbors and local communities. Bless the leaders of our land that we may be at peace among ourselves and a blessing to other nations of the earth. All of this we pray in your most gracious name. Please join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. And we have a proclamation to do before we get started, if I could have Lori Duggins and company to join me down below here. And whereas there is hope in winning the war on drugs, and the hope lies in the hard work and determination of our community to create a drug-free environment. Held in conjunction with the walk and run to support this visual stance against drugs. Now, therefore, be it resolved that I, Steve Diamico, mayor of the city of Bullhead City do hereby proclaim Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024 as a walk away from drugs day, and encourage all citizens, businesses, public and private agencies, religious and educational institutions to wear and display red ribbons and participate in our drug-free activity to show their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle. Thanks, sir. Thank you so much, Mayor. And I just want to make sure that you guys come out and support this event. The youth in our community need to see that we want to live a drug free, be a drug-free community. And so we all know that children who are talked to about drugs and understand that it's not acceptable, are 50% less likely to ever or more try any type of drug. So let's all get together and do this. I think the kids are really going to come up with some neat posters, encourage the children you know to enter. The Corn Fest has added additional Bullhead City Koanas has added additional passes to the Corn Fest to the children who entered. We're going to have additional prizes besides the bicycle and the Walmart gift card and things that Shop With a Cop is providing. We just really hope that you'll come out. And they'll have games and prizes, and a lot of different community partners will have booths. So hopefully we'll see you all there. It's a quick fun event. Five o'clock, the walk starts promptly.
