And then the bail bond, it was just re-upped with the additional $6,000.

And it's now at $5,800 in total for that pot.

Hakeem is a 35-year-old African American male residing in Effland with a family member, but looking for permanent housing, employed part-time at a supermarket chain, has medical and credit card consumer debt, provides child support payment, unable to pay out-of-pocket expenses, wanting to get driver's license reinstated to be able to secure better employment and provide transportation for children, facing barriers to housing utilities and financial management.

Has a pending case out of Orange County and one out of Alamance and an FTA out of Orange County.

Thought $50 might have been too low, but uh Lauren had checked into this with the DMV, and seems that that is the $50 is accurate.

Yes, I remember.

So yeah, so the thought was it looks like his license only suspended due to that one bear to pay payment that's being requested there on the screen and his restoration fee, and then I don't think I got his phone number from you last time, Sarah, but perhaps after the meetings I can just get that phone number and I can then follow up with him about getting that other case calendar because I can probably just have the clerk's office calendar that for him and then come early next month.

He can um presumably have his license restored and be out of that at issue and get his aluminum pending case dismissed with this bowel driver's license.

Um on the board have any connection with Mr.

Jackson.

Um has 498 dollars in court fees um with 50 dollar fine.

Umes 120 dollars to the DMV, does not need an alcohol assessment.

Uh Brittany is a 34-year-old African-American female.

Uh, her house burned down in Gibsonville, and she's now residing in Chapel Hills, currently unemployed, wants to get her driver's license reinstated to no longer be breaking the law, has been struggling to maintain employment due to lack of transportation, facing barriers to food security, transportation, and mental health.

Funding would help the uh would help her move in the right direction.

She has two pending cases in Alamance County uh and an FTA in Alamance.

Uh so when Mitch and I met, we um had discussed that license is suspended due to two FTAs.

Um, and I think um Mitch Claire, correct me if I'm wrong on this, but we're looking maybe at one being recalendared and the other one was not.

Um but consideration was to recommend approving payment for the two traffic tickets and also the the restoration fee.

Um having her contact you so that you could assist uh with the Alamance cases, maybe trying to get good at dismissed.

Yeah, um uh we looked at her driving record.

Her last movement violation were the two tickets that are listed there for payment back in 2017.

Um and the thought was that if those can get paid, I think the DA's office over in Alamance be sympathetic to dismissing her um pending charges, including that fair to appear case, because it seems like she went to try and get the cases re-countered herself recently, um, but perhaps overlooked one or wasn't aware of the third case that was that was listed there.

So I think once those two um 2016-2017 cases are paid off, and the DA will look at her driving record, realize she has just those drive-on license revoke charges pending, they probably just outright dismissed those and she can have her license back.

And um, I know she's dealing with a lot right now with the recent house burning down, so I think it'd be much very beneficial beneficial for her for the assistance.

Um, anyone connected to or work on miss sales.

She's been a member at IOC since 2014.

Um current involvement though since early 2024.

Yeah, how long has she been in the Chapel Hill area?

I am not entirely sure right off the bat.

And yeah, you're right, Lauren.

He is currently in custody in Wake County.

He was picked up on August 8th.

Um, well, either picked up or I know last time we met, um, the board had decided to postpone his application to he resolve his OFA.

So there's a chance he turned himself in on those and is still being held.

Um, but is currently in custody.

Um well, given that, I I think I'd be wise that since our one of our eligibility requirements is incarceration, that we don't review his application right now.

Um good thing is that since last month he has had those OFAs and everything, at least served on him and is dealing with him in Wake County.

Um, I think I'd be wise to postpone it till next month that way he is presumably or hopefully out of custody at that point and can connect back with the debt program administrators for more information about his current situation at that point reassess his uh application.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Well, I I kind of do, but um so he's in and it's practice that you can't agree to give him money, but he's gonna be faced with the same barriers once he gets out if the money is not taken care of, and he still will not be able to get a job because I'm he won't have the license attached to it, and uh chances are he's not gonna leave the valid ID, so he's gonna have to start from scratch again.

If everything is not time in place.

His application's not gonna be denied, so I went to say from scratch.

He is still dealing with some chart new charges.

Like I know he has a DWI pending in Wake County.

Um, not saying he's guilty of whatsoever, but it is so I mean a factor of any employer who's wanting him to drive, be considering um affording a job offer.

I know it sounds like one's pending, but um if a case does happen to result in a conviction, it is going to kind of backtrack him on that front.

But I do I do understand where you're coming from.

I'm just not sure what his current OFAs relate to, if they're financial or if they're due to missing recent court dates.
