Before we do jump into some things, just want to kind of give an update about like the situation with the board.

That being like our funding.

We're kind of in a bit of a limbo right now, we found out.

So as we all know, the justice project used to support the the board dissolved in its place.

The county is hopefully considering some funding to support county residents and about $6,000 was what the budget recommendation was to support the debt program to then support the um residents that we serve.

However, we recently learned from Carborough that it sounds like Carborough may be doing away with their funding in the new budget cycle.

Sarah received work from the town.

Was it last month, Sarah?

You heard you heard word from them.

Uh-huh.

Um really kind of blindsided.

There wasn't any like heads up of hey, this is gonna be a possibility.

It was more just a as far as we were aware of a firm no, we're not gonna proceed with this any further.

Um we're gonna be kind of I guess being creative next fiscal year and seeing how we can use the funding we have.

Uh I've been thinking of perhaps once if and when the county does approve the funding for us, that if we can expand that to also cover Carbro residents since Carbro's no longer assisting.

Um, but to keep everyone in the loop on this, and so everyone's fully advised about this, these changes.

This may also mean we're gonna lose Savannah.

Um when she when the funding for Carbro is is gone.

I believe it also takes away her her time with us.

So um obviously a lot of work for us with meeting minutes.

I don't see her on the call right now, but um we'll need to kind of adapt some of our work during these meetings to make sure we have meeting minutes taken care of and all of our T's crossed and I've dotted.

Um Sarah, any other thing I didn't mention.

Uh no, the only thing is I I did check and uh Chapel Hill is still committed to uh the 20,000 that they give to the program each year.

Yes, Crystal.

So does this mean if an individual is charged, um is they're dealing with charges or fees that are in another county, but reside in Chapel Hill, it would still support them.

Right.

So how the funding is used is it depends on where the person is located, where the residence is.

And so money from town of Chapel Hill is for Chapel Hill residents to pay fees wherever they may have fees associated.

Carborough residents historically we've been pulling from the Carborough pot, but with Carbor now taking away their funding, that puts us in a limbo of how to cover those residents out of Carborough.

The justice project now becoming like the Orange County funding is has been used to you to cover Hillsborough residents and the rest of the the county, as of the city limits.

So it won't be that's where I was getting confused.

So the county funds that we would be using, it wouldn't go towards Carbor residents.

So that's what we need to discuss, I think, once like the commissioners actually approve the um town manager's budget because when it was proposed to Travis, our county manager to help with this funding and he was on board for it, the discussion was to be used in place of what Justice Project was using to cover like county residents and Hillsborough residents because we had the funding sources at the time, still believed it would be re-upped for both Chapel Hill and Carborough, and now we're realizing that Carborough is taking that money away.

So once we get into the new fiscal year and the money has been approved to be drawn upon, then probably go back to the um town manager and make sure it's not gonna be wrongful to use the cover Carborough residents since carp since Carlborough is taking away their funding.

Does that make sense?
