And that'll be just about the sum of our business today.

And so for the first report, is there a report from Senior Services.

Yes, thank you, Mayor and Senior Services Committee members.

So I wanted to let everybody know that we did receive a um our grant agreement for our uh passenger vehicle.

Um so we received a grant agreement for 175,000.

Um I'll be going out to um I'll be working with our procurement officer at uh City Hall to get uh to get a vehicle purchased and on its way.

So hopefully within the next 365 days or so.

We'll have a vehicle.

We'll see how long it'll take them to get it.

Um I also wanted to let everybody know that this Saturday we are um the New Mexico Martin Luther King Commission uh reached out to the city about holding a uh 2026 building the beloved community ceasefire and space for nonviolence.

And so we are um we are very proud to be um part of this, and we're gonna be opening our center from one to four on Saturday.

Um Holly Aragon from Kill Me Now, just Kill Me Now is going to be at the center providing a um uh painting class, and so we're looking forward to it.

We're gonna have cookies and some hot cocoa.

We're gonna set out some dominoes and board games so that if anybody wants to just stop in and um and uh uh show show their support.

And so we'll be open from one to four that day.

Uh I do want to see if you can save the date on uh May the 6th, we will be hosting our non-igenarian celebration.

And this year we're gonna change it up a little bit.

We've had a fiesta the last couple of years, so this year we are doing the roaring twenties.

So I would invite the public to come out.

We're we're gonna be hosting that at 2 p.m.

at the Hillcrest Senior Life Center on May the 6th.

Non-Igenarian celebration is for seniors who have reached 90 plus years of age, and we would like for them to come out and celebrate with us.

And I believe that is all that I have for senior services.

So if you would like for me to go right into the mill site.

Uh Ms.

Brigan, I appreciate that.

I it it might be worth worth mentioning just for everyone's benefit, uh, the beloved community uh building the beloved community event that you mentioned.

And thank you for making the senior center available for that.

Um wanted to just mention for everyone's uh awareness and so that you can share with your friends that that event uh while the senior center uh Hillcrest Senior Life Center has its its role in it.

That event is uh uh really uh an afternoon long beginning at 11 a.m.

uh until 4 p.m.

beloved community uh building the beloved community event that you mentioned and thank you for making the senior center available for that um wanted to just mention for everyone's uh awareness and so that you can share with your friends that that event um well the senior center uh hillcrest senior life center has its its role in it that event is uh uh really uh an afternoon long beginning at 11 a.m uh until 4 p.m uh all across Hillcrest Park including the zoo where where admission fees are being waived uh for the for the event uh and um a lunch is going to be served as well as uh step camp uh and open mic uh several uh activities planned throughout the day all beginning at 11 a.m there at Hillcrest Park and so I just wanted to add to that so that we can all share with our friends uh to go out and enjoy that day at the park and go over and do the art project with Just Kill Me now at uh the senior center.

No thank you for that additional information because I think it's I'm so excited about this event.

I think it's going to be great just to see our park filled with the community and it's for a great cause and so I'm super excited about it as well.

Thank you, Mayor.

So it is um it is the time of year where we'll be applying for um New Mexico grown that that is a grant that that we can apply for for the MIL site once a year.

They do not tell us we don't I don't ask for a specific amount they take the number of participants who have who have submitted applications and then the amount of funding that they have and that's how they kind of divvy it up.

This past year I got $15,000 for produce and meat to come into the senior center.

We had a little bit of funding left over we have to spend it before May 30th and so we are offering March is national nutrition month and so on we are going to recognize that and have um stew in a bag and so for the first hundred seniors we're gonna have a bag of hamburger meat some potatoes carrots onions some mushrooms from the enchanted mushrooms up in up in Albuquerque area and so that that will be one per household and all of the ingredients from from inside that bag have come from New Mexico grown from local farmers and ranchers throughout the state of New Mexico that's going to be happening at at 2 p.m on March the 26th did I say two I think it may be 1 p.m on the 26th I apologize.

I would like to um let everybody know that we had an assessment for the MIL site on January the 29th and as part of as part of the operations of the MIL site we receive state and federal funding and so the non-metro area agency on aging is obligated to monitor providers throughout the state to make sure that they are spending those funds correctly and make sure that nobody is abusing those funds.

So each year we we have a um we have an assessment done and this year they walked through our kitchen they inspected um the entire facility they did an inventory audit um there's certain number of postings that have to be up and so we had all of those in place they they um look at gosh we had I uploaded over 200 documents to a file um within a 30 30 day time including all of our policies and procedures our manuals for personnel finance it was it was a very daunting task to try to get all of those uploaded this is the first year that we've had to do it so I learned a lot during the process I I did give you a sheet there for um the statistics for the year and so we we completed 237 new assessments we had 509 reassessments completed the seniors that we served in the dining room was 696 for the year homebound seniors was 174 and then the total meals that we served for congregate was 22,371 and total homebound meals was 37,494.

I gave statistics at the last senior services committee meeting and after I looked at them I went back to the office and and it just didn't they just didn't look right they didn't seem right so I reached out to our um data center in um Tootery and I asked them to provide that um that uh list for me so that I would have more accurate detail.

Um so with with our assessment that we completed, I am very happy to let you all know that we had zero findings.

Um they went through and everything was in tip top shape.

Every they every record that we needed to have uploaded was there.

Um of course with any assessment I learned a lot.

I learned what we needed to have more of, you know, maybe a little bit more training.

Um but it was very it was very um rewarding, and and I'm glad that we were able to go through that.

During our assessment, one of the um the regional manager uh from the non-metro area agency on aging shared a video with us, and I have shared that video with the commission as well as our city administration, but I thought that it would be nice um if I could share that video with with you all, um, just so you can see, which I know you all know because you're all seniors, but I know um that maybe the public needs to see the impact that um the mill site plays on um in our community.

So if I can have that video play?

Is how valuable is this service to you?

Well, it I ate one meal a day, and that's it.

So this is your one meal a day.

Yeah.

Is it tasty?

Yes.

And does it come hot?

Yes.

And the dances, and that is uh part of the reason.

Most of the people that come for the food, a lot of them say they just come to talk with everybody and get out of their house to get dressed and have a place to go.

That's right.

What would happen if we didn't have this place to come to?

What would you do?

I need a lot of peanut butter and jelly.

You need a lot of TV and Jays, huh?

Very nice.

Well, I so appreciate guys.

How long have you been getting meals here at the center?

Uh we have a ring.

How long have you been receiving home delivered meals?

Well, three or four years at least.

Oh, and do you like the meals?

Oh, absolutely.

Oh, I enjoy them as much as anything that's given to me.

Is it is it nice for you to have someone that comes and checks on you every day?

Like the drivers for home delivered meals?

That's the only one in my home.

My wife passed away, so I'm gonna have medical issues.

So this meal is very important to you every day.

And also having the delivery drivers come in and check on you later.

So uh this was filmed in Hobbes, New Mexico, but we have uh we have the same situation across the state of New Mexico, so it's something that uh we're very thankful that we're able to offer this service.

Um we serve lunches from 11 to 12.30 Monday through Friday, so you can stop by and um and get registered with our facility, and then we can give you more details at that time.

Um we have continuing ongoing bingo at the center.

We have our like to say uh the 23rd is our Spanish bingo is the last one for the month of March.

And then on the 20th ninth, the 24th and the 31st, we have an hour second.

Um we had a paint class yesterday, and it is on our website.

Uh appreciated getting on there the next day.

So if you want to see our paints, uh, go to Hillcrest Senior Life Center, and you'll be able to see that.

Um then for the rest of March 13th, we have the luck of the Irish movie and popcorn at 1 p.m.

On the 18th, we have the senior showdown.

And it's a contest with Nerf Guns, and that's gonna be very exciting.

It's at 2 p.m.

On March the 19th, we're having a mystery game, so I don't know what it is.

It's it's gonna be Crack the Code game at 2 p.m.

And March the 27th is the luck of the Irish birthday celebration.

So everyone that attends the center that day um or any time during the month they have a birthday, they will be celebrated at 2 p.m.

April the second, 16th, and 30th is our zomba workout at 10 a.m.

in the morning.

That's an exercise dance class.

Um April the 6th, we have our flower pot facecraft class at 9.30 and 2 p.m.

Uh because we have s had such a large registration, we do have our craft class uh twice uh twice during the the days that we have them.

One at 9 30 a.m.

and the other one at 2 p.m.

That allows more participants to um come to the class.

April the 7th, we have Mystery Bingo at 1.30 p.m.

And again, I'm in the blinds, so I don't know what that is.

I'm sure it'll be exciting.

April the 9th and the 23rd is our walking with peeps at 10 a.m.

How's and it's gonna be inside or outside, depending on the weather.

So you'll be able to walk with your friends and acquaintances at the center on the April the 9th and the 23rd again at 10 a.m.

April the 9th is our chair volleyball, and that's at 2 p.m.

April the 13th is our hangar art craft class, and that's offered twice uh at 9.30 a.m.

and 2 p.m.

And they're gonna be using uh hangers to make um wreaths um with the hangers.

April the 16th is mini golf, and that's at 2 p.m.

on the inside of the building.

April the 20th is rock paint art class, and that's at 9 30 a.m.

and 2 p.m.

So they're gonna use rocks and paint on them.

We did that at uh um at Holly's paint shop, and that was very interesting.

April the 23rd is seniors versus employee showdown at 2 p.m.

And April the 27th is our closed pen art craft at 9.30 and again at 2 p.m.

And I'm sorry, that's gonna be the wreath.

The others are just hangers we're gonna do craft with.

The Reese are gonna be the uh clothes pen art craft class.

April the 30th is the Fear Factor Games, and that's at 2 p.m.

Well, um, before you start off with all of the things this Saturday at 8 o'clock till whenever we are having a huge um garage sale at Baxter.

It is one of our major fundraisers.

We are we have been cleaning out and labeling and we've kind of gone to, you know, this whole box goes for two bucks.

No, you can't dig through it.

You pay the two bucks, take the box home, go through it at home, throw away what you don't want.

And start it'll start at 8.

And it'll just go until it's until we decide we're sick of it.

Um so we have done a major, major clean out at Baxter.

Um of course we play Mexican Train every Saturday night at 4 o'clock, and then again, and that's a potluck.

And on Monday nights at 5, that's a potluck.

Um then they you know they do their quilting, their sewing and stuff.

I don't have a calendar with me, but during the week that on their weekly basis.

There's a Pinocle Group, there's a um.

I don't think we have a jewelry group anymore.

And then in April, on the April 17th is a dance kicking off their our annual um car show.

The car show will be I think it starts at 8.

We'll be from 8 to the end of the day.

Um we've got a huge amount of applications already turned in that are going to have their motorcycles and cars up there.

It it is for it's for trophies.

Um it's a lot, it's a lot of fun.

We'll have we have vendors that are gonna set up tables that will have stuff to be sold.

Um we have a couple of health care agencies coming in that have booked a table.

Um it's a lot of work, but it's always it's always a lot of fun.

We'll have a couple food trucks out there in the parking lot that will be selling food.

Um I think that's about it.

I wasn't really prepared, but I wanted to get those two important dates out there.

You've had some registration, haven't you?

Yeah, I spent all day, all morning over at Hillcrest registering.

Um we have one more on Tuesday, so that Tuesday will be your last chance.

So if you haven't done it, I passed out a ton of forms today at Hillcrest, and we've got a bunch floating out there, so I'm hopefully we'll get them all back in on Tuesday.

Um I guarantee you that if you do it one year, you will want to do it for the rest of your life.

I mean, it it's a it's just a fun event.

It's it's it's a fun time.

It covers the whole month of April.

We have a little bit of everything.

I can I always tell people I can find something that you can do.

I don't care how you tell me how you oh I can't do this, oh I can find you something.

Um, as you know, that's my passion, so I'm a big advocate of it.

I I don't mind going out and walking around saying, here have a form.

Um so we're we're excited.

Um we'll kick off our very first event will be um April the 7th with 8 Bar Pool at La Casa.

And then we go right into Cornholes bowling, and we we we are have included bowling again thanks to Warren because Warren was able to get the bowling alley set up for us, so we are gonna put bowling back onto our schedule.

We haven't had it in a few years.

Um we've already got some people that have signed up for bowling, so we're excited about that.

Um Tuesday from 10 to 1, I will be at La Casa.

I mean I will be at Hillcrest Senior Center ready to take your form and your money.

Your $25 fee covers if this is your first year to participate, it will cover a new t-shirt.

If you participated last year, we we rotate our t-shirts out every three years.

Um and I'll give Bank of Clovis credit because they are the ones who sponsor our t-shirts for us.

And so every three years we recycle a new one.

And the $25 also covers the banquet at the end, which is May the 2nd this year.

And we're going to try something different.

We're going to hold it at the McDaniels building this year and see how that goes just because.

So your 25 and your $25 also covers, we provide all the equipment for everything.

You don't have to have anything.

And it provides snacks and water and that kind of stuff.

So one more registration push on Thursday, you said Tuesday.

I mean, once you get in the first year, you you almost always, in this, you know, unless there's illness or something, you almost always get them back the next from then on.

And so she's hoping to be here for the next meeting in May.

Yeah, we lucked out a few years ago the library there, said, Oh, we can make your appointments and you can do them here, and we said yes.

And they set up our appointments and because one year I had to use my teacher voice.

Even though I was not a teacher.

I learned from Kay Berry to use a teacher voice.

And uh now they all behave.

Said that we've got them so well trained over there.

Now they come in and they get in two lines just like first graders, and they line right up and they stay in their lines.

She said it looks like first graders lining up in lines.

So but it's going good.
