if

Speaker 3

you've had a chance, committee members to review the minutes from August thirteenth.

7:41

I would simply ask if there are any objections to how they've been prepared.

7:48

And if there are no objections, and I'm not hearing or seeing any, those minutes are adopted.

7:54

And we are on to reports.

Speaker 5

8:02

Good afternoon, Mayor and members of the senior services committee.

8:06

Um so I just wanted to let everybody know that we did receive uh small grant in the amount of five thousand dollars for the New Mexico grown senior center garden program.

8:18

So we are going to establish a garden club, and that garden club's first meeting is going to meet on October the twenty eighth at two PM.

8:29

The garden club, we're gonna purchase some hydroponic garden systems and have kind of in the corner of our dining room.

8:38

Um the garden club will be responsible for planting, maintaining, harvesting, and then distributing to the seniors at the senior center.

8:47

Um we cannot use anything that is grown in those hydroponic systems for the mill site itself.

8:54

And so um so they will be distributed to our seniors.

9:00

Um thus we are having a all staff training on October the twenty first.

9:05

None of us are certified right now in CPR, so we're going to be having our CPR class, first aid class.

9:13

The police are going to come over and join that training with us and do Narcan training for all of our staff.

9:22

Um the non-metro area agency on aging is trying to push out a program called ABCs of suicide prevention.

9:31

Um so they're asking senior centers across the state of New Mexico to join in with a quarterly education presentation.

9:40

So our first education presentation is going to be on November the fourth at two PM.

9:46

And we'll hold it there in the conference room uh quarterly, or we'll kind of see how it goes for the first quarters and see um see where we go from there.

Unassigned speaker

10:00

We are planning a veterans appreciation on November the 10th at 9 a.m.

Speaker 5

10:04

I have been in contact with Dell from the VFW and we've looked at their schedule, and as far as we know, there's not going to be any conflicts with any other veterans activities that are going around.

10:17

I don't have all the details yet, but soon to follow will be a flyer with more details on that appreciation for our veterans here in Clovis.

10:29

The aging long-term services grant cycle will be opening up on November the 4th, and applications are due on February 24th.

10:38

I know we still have a little bit of time between now and the next time that we meet.

10:43

But I am planning to apply for funding to purchase new dining room table and chairs.

10:51

And so I and I don't have a dollar amount yet.

10:53

This is just in my planning.

10:56

So if you'll let me know if there is anything else that you think that I should apply for for funding for the Hillcrest Senior Life Center.

11:06

Are there any questions on any of those activities or anything that I mentioned?

Speaker 6

11:13

I have a question for the CPR training.

11:16

Can the volunteers participate in that?

Speaker 5

11:19

No, ma'am.

11:20

That's going to be a city, City of Clovis training for our staff only.

11:25

Okay.
