Denver City Council Meeting - November 28, 2023
On November 28, 2023, at 8:30 AM, the Denver City Council convened a brief public session before entering an executive session. Announcements
- Councilman Flynn announced a drive-through toy drive in Council District 2 on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at his office in the Bear Valley shopping center (behind the car wash at Dartmouth and Yates). He encouraged attendees to bring new, unwrapped toys and noted that Santa, an antique police car, and an antique fire truck would be present.
- Councilwoman Mary Campbell announced two events: a senior luncheon on Wednesday (date not specified) at the Welsh Shire in Southeast Denver, and a community information meeting about the family shelter in Southeast Denver on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Hamilton Middle School cafeteria.
- Mayor expressed gratitude to council members for their direct outreach to migrants and newcomers, specifically mentioning Councilman Parady for driving folks to shelter over the weekend.
Executive Session Motion
- The council moved to enter executive session pursuant to DRMC 233 C1 and 234 A34 and 6 to discuss ongoing negotiations of contracts to potentially acquire or use real property for shelter or housing, and for collective bargaining negotiations. A two-thirds vote of members present was required. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously (all in favor, no opposed). The council then entered executive session.

Thank you so much. Um I will keep my fashion ruminations for uh post session. Um welcome everyone, thank you so much for coming to Mayor Council this morning. Delighted to be together. Uh we will start with introductions. I will start with the distinguished gentleman from District Six. Um I'm gonna uh guess that's me. Paul Cashman uh represents South Denver District Six. And this is the fine hat to which the mayor was referring. Hi, folks, I'm Sarah Paradigm. I also represent the city at large. Good morning, Mayor, Council, and uh all those watching. Chris Hines, Denver's perfect ten. And I'm Flora Alvidres with Lucky District 7. And Jamie Torres, Council District 3. Uh great. Thank you all so much for being here. We do have um uh executive session planned today with two updates, and so we have a shorter public session. Do you want to open it up for announcements that any council members may have for things they would love to make sure that the people of Denver know about? Councilman Flynn. Thank you, Mayor. I mentioned this at the council last night at 3 30 3 30 session. I guess that's afternoon. On Saturday, this Saturday, December 2. Uh, Council District 2, my office is sponsoring along with the Southwest Denver Coalition a toy drive at my council office in the Bear Valley shopping center, or drive-through toy drive, 11 o'clock to 2 p.m. We had a huge success last year gathering new toys. Please bring a new toy, unwrapped to the office. Santa will be there to greet you. There will be an antique uh uh police car antique fire truck. Uh, we're hoping. Uh there'll be a radio station there blasting music and uh fun for all ages. And please uh come out and help the uh the kids of Southwest Denver have a nice Christmas. 11 to 2 this Saturday. 11 to 1. That's oh that's at uh the east end of the shopping center. It's the address is Sheridan Boulevard, but it's actually at the intersection of Dartmouth and Yates, right behind the car wash. Dartmouth and Yates, Saturday, 11 to 2. Is that right, Councilman? Behind the car wash. Excellent. You need to wear kind of fancy jingle for how to fight your office. Behind the car wash.
