It is a fantastic start to 2026 and I will let the distinguished gentlemen from District

6 start us off with introductions.

Well, great to see you all.

Everyone looks wonderful and well rested

and all put together.

We have a short general session this morning

and we do have an executive session after that,

but I do want to start with any announcements

that folks may have to share with the public at large

or with their fellow council members.

I can tell Councilman Watson has something

that he's excited about just based on the process.

I'm just, it's real fear.

I want to invite everyone to define District 9 for the kickoff of the Western Stock Show.

It begins this Thursday, one of the best events, the parade that comes down towards downtown on 17th and goes through to 26th.

I think one of the great things about the Stock Show that I love, and I know many of the council members around the table love,

isn't just all of the fun activities that happens at National Western,

but it's the investment into community.

Over $300,000 of scholarships to young people in Globeville, Elyria, Swansea,

across the city for folks who are interested in careers in agriculture.

So come on down, spend your money, help us to invest in scholarships,

and have a great time in a fine District 9.

Thank you, Mr. Mayor. I just have a real quick one. Today is my daughter's birthday, and yay, this is exciting for her and for me.

But anyway, I just wanted to wish her a happy birthday.

Happy birthday. Councilwoman Albedras.

And in support of the National Western, we are having our own District 7 kick-off to the National Western.

It will be Thursday at 530 at Desert Social on South Broadway, and we will be giving away tickets, have food, music, dancing, all the fun things, and a real-life course that people can get on and take some books.

Wow, love it.

It's my son's birthday, too.

I didn't know they had the same.

Yeah, and my council aide, it's her daughter's birthday, so happy birthday to all of the people who have burned.

Today's the Feast of the Three Kings.

So this is actually the 12 days of Christmas, from Christmas to today are the 12 days of Christmas, yes.

So I always celebrate that.

That's great.

Day of Epiphany.

Yeah.

I would like to apologize to my children that I've never recognized their birth.

You probably choose that practice because apparently Councilman Gonzalez-Cutierrez is always great about that.

Oh, and then also recycle your Christmas tree.

It turns into free mulch for residents in the spring, and it's a great program.

And if you're in the north side, you can take it to Sloan's Lake.

It's super simple.

A reminder to everyone, including my wife, you don't have to take down your Christmas lights until after the show.

As I get out of jail free card for the next seven days.
