The Eagan City Council met on May 5, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the Eagan Municipal Center. The meeting included a consent agenda, one public hearing, and a major discussion on an Interim Use Permit (IUP) for the IronGate Data Center. The council approved the consent agenda and the easement vacation, but denied the IUP after extensive debate, also directing staff to withhold approval of permanent chillers pending a land use application.
It is our first meeting of the month of May. We have a fairly light agenda in terms of topics. And hopefully, maybe if anything happens, we'll give a few subtle updates on the game. I know in the front row you're you're concerned in following, so uh we'll make sure to do that. Um I will say that I uh we have a meeting, we have an item on the agenda tonight that was on uh the agenda for the APC on Thursday. Um and uh I watched that meeting live. I know many of you were in the room for that meeting on Thursday when the wild played and won. So hopefully, if we miss a good portion of the game, we'll get the same result tonight. All right, so let's I that doesn't mean we have to spend the whole time here. Like if we can get home by mid-second period, maybe, you know. Uh anyway, um uh with that uh Ms. Miller, any changes agenda tonight? No, Mr. Mayor. Uh council any changes the agenda. No motion. Councilmember Hanson. Adopt the agenda is presented. Second. That's moved and seconded. Any further discussion on the agenda. Seeing none, all in favor single saying aye. And opposed nay. That motion carries, and we have an agenda. Uh we have no recognition and presentations tonight, so I'll go right to our consent agenda. Um there any members of the public who are here on an item that appears in the consent agenda uh and had questions on that item or wanted to see the item acted on separately. Seeing none, I'll bring it back to the council. Council, same question for motion. Councilmember Bachin for move. Move to approve the balance of the consent agenda. Second. That's moved and seconded. Is there any further discussion on the consent agenda? Saying none. All in favor single saying aye. And opposed, nay. That motion carries. Uh, and we will uh move on to uh public hearing. Uh we have just one uh public hearing tonight. Um it should be a fairly efficient item, I think. Uh is a um uh to vacate a utility easement at lot one block one united stationers edition at 1720 Alexander Road. Ms. Miller. Thank you, Mr. Mayor, members of the council. Uh, this request is actually coming from city staff for consideration of the vacation of the utility easement. The purpose is to vacate the utility easement along the south side of the existing building. Public easements are not required to address the existing private utilities within the easement on this property. So I will turn it over to public works director Mathis. Thank you, Ms.
