8:32

Uh the Daniel Arleson uh Egan American Legion has made uh uh women uh recognizing women veterans one of our priorities when I took over oh gosh a number of years ago, that's something I brought up.

8:44

But we have to really give Margot Danner credit.

8:47

I had discussed this with her, and she and uh Tom Mollin uh kind of initiated the statute.

8:52

So we've got to give them credit for getting the female statue at the tribute plaza.

8:57

Uh we recognize this tribute uh has been long overdue, and it's it but this is just a start for uh recognizing women in the military.

9:04

We hope it's an inspiration for young women to have the ability to serve their country and learn thing new things along the way.

9:10

And if you'd like to see this is the picture uh and you know many of you are there, I and I just appreciate that.

9:18

So the Daniel R.

Eagan City Council Meeting – July 7, 2026

Overview

The Eagan City Council held a regular meeting on July 7, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the Eagan Municipal Center. The meeting was brief, consisting almost entirely of a consent agenda. The only item discussed in detail was a donation of a women's veteran statue to the Eagan Tribute Plaza, which was accepted through the consent agenda. The meeting concluded with no public hearings, old business, new business, or other substantive items.

Consent Calendar

The council unanimously adopted the entire consent agenda as presented, which included 19 items: approval of minutes from June 16 and June 9, 2026; personnel items; check registers; contracts; a resolution to accept donations; a change of manager for a liquor license; change order No. 13 for the Eagan Community Center Reinvestment Project; water meter surcharge rebates; plans and specifications for North Treatment Plant filters; final payments for two water infrastructure projects; appointment of election judges for the August 11, 2026 primary election; a temporary alcohol license fee waiver for Friends of the Farm; an off-sale liquor license for Black Diamond Wine and Spirits; an amendment to extend the project completion deadline for Project Alpha; the 2026-2027 Sustainable Eagan Advisory Commission work plan; plans and specifications for two 2027 pavement rejuvenator projects; and a resolution approving an off-site gambling application for Ted Williams Hitter Hall of Fame and Museum. The council also approved the donation of the women's veteran statue (item E) as part of the consent agenda.

Public Comments & Testimony

Wayne Byrman, immediate past commander of the Daniel R. Olson Eagan American Legion, and Margot Danner spoke about the donation of a women's veteran statue to the Eagan Tribute Plaza. They thanked city staff and officials for their support, noting that the statue was long overdue and intended to inspire young women to serve in the military. Mayor and council members expressed gratitude for the donation and recognized the Legion's efforts. The council noted that the statue dedication had occurred on Thursday, July 2, 2026 (postponed from Memorial Day due to weather).

Discussion Items

No formal discussion items were held outside of the consent agenda. The council briefly addressed the donation item (E) by allowing public comments before voting on the consent agenda. Councilmember Hansen noted that due to weather, the city's fireworks display would be rescheduled to August 7, 2026, coinciding with the Food Truck Festival.

Key Outcomes

  • The council unanimously adopted the consent agenda in its entirety, including acceptance of the women's veteran statue donation.
  • The July 4 fireworks were rescheduled to August 7, 2026, as announced by a councilmember.
  • No other actions were taken; the meeting adjourned after visitors to be heard.
