Uh we're going to go ahead and go to the mayor's announcement.

Then for me, just yeah, everything was fine and dandy.

Uh tomorrow I have my um Sun Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization meeting where I'm the Secretary Treasurer of this year.

So I'll be uh in Cas Grant for that meeting.

Other than that, it is what it is.

Uh got a few things on the manager's update for tonight.

Um I'll start with what Mary brought up first.

Yeah, I'll switch with you.

Okay.

Um first off here is uh do we got it on the screen?

We do.

Perfect.

Myself, uh Lorena, Jeremy, and Violet all met over the last several months to do a website update.

So we've got our this just soft launched last week.

This is the new page for the Elay website.

Nothing big or ground earth shattering.

Uh this was just as we do our contract with Civic Clerk every so often we have an opportunity to refresh our website, update it, make it look new and exciting.

So this is what we did.

The four of us put got together, most everything is in the same spot.

It's just as you can see, we did some different new update look to what's going on.

We got a it is user-friendly.

Yes, very user-friendly.

So we'll go into like economic development.

So you'll see some of the same information is still there.

It's just we updated colors.

This uh website update gives us an opportunity to have a new banner page.

We've got our links to our social media accounts, got our different pay online counter events, jobs.

Um, and then as you scroll down, you'll see some of the outside the six quick links that are the ones that are most used.

What we can do with this new website is track these quick links so we'll be able to know how many times these are clicked on.

We can also track other areas within the website, and if there's other areas that are clicked on more than some of these six, then we can just transfer those right in here to the main page.

So it gives us a lot more flexibility with statistic data, being able to track and monitored website usage, who's clicking on what where, so we can just keep this more fresh and and coherent with what's going on in the community.

Uh, this is a new thing we just did here where we've got our social media feed down here.

We've got the city of Eloy, community services and the police department all right here.

As you can see, it's all real time with Facebook.

So if anyone wants to click on one of these posts, they can just click on it and take them right to that account.

And then we add in a new news and events.

This was uh needed help on the old web page.

So we enhance this, these are different PDF flyers that we can attach into the website.

Then we also went down here and enhance the calendar and events section as well.

So we've got the public meetings on one side, and if you want to see the community meetings, you click over onto the community meetings.

So it creates a more user-friendly site to see what's happening.

And then lastly, is the bottom page.

Uh really neat feature on here is it is bilingual.

So if you do not speak English or it's not your first language, you can click down here and select any of these multitude of languages throughout the world.

So where is our Spanish?

Uh right.

Yeah, there you go.

So you just click on Spanish and now you see the only things that don't change are the flyers because those were already created and uploaded as PDFs onto the site.

But all the other content that is within the website, as you can see, is all now in Spanish.

Oh wow.

Yeah.

So pretty neat.

We're like I said, it's a soft launch.

It just got released last week Wednesday.

So what we're doing now is going through it, checking everything, making sure it all works right.

Um, and then if you all have any comments or questions, uh please reach out to Loretta or I and we'll be able to help out with that and offer you input on it.

David, uh not so much a question, just a comment.

I've noticed uh through some of the quests we've had come through planning and zoning through council on uh public hearings.

Is it possible to put public hearings on the someplace in the meeting agenda?

Uh I'm not sure uh but think about that.

Uh because I think we have to find a better way to informing the public when we're having public hearings so we get more attendance at them.

And the other thing I noticed uh uh in the past, not necessarily here in Eloy, but sometimes I've seen signs put up on sites uh announcing a public hearing concerning a zoning or something.

Is that possible we could look into maybe uh as uh developers or there's a zoning possible change to a particular site that maybe we require a uh a sign put up on notice we already do on the site?

It's not always time.

And that's why I was asking if we start paying more attention to that.

Is it on the properties that you're talking about or on the property on the property?

I can talk with our new community development director, yeah.

Mr.

Summer is followed up because I think I I'd like to encourage uh more attendance of some of the public hearings.

I guess being on council, I I get a little nervous sometimes to make decisions and we uh anybody have any comments to public hearings?

No, nobody came or nobody didn't have any.

Sometimes we make decisions in the best interest to, but we don't really know if people really showed up in those or not.

On that report of concern, would somebody go to be able to report like a uh street light that's out on the spot if they're going down to say Maine and the 11th or something?

Could they go and do that through that like real time?

Like real time.

Well, I'd hope not because they shouldn't be on their phone while driving.

But yes, they should pull over at their earliest convenience and go on their website and report that concern.

Yeah, because many times by the time they get home, they forget.

Yeah, no, they it's all of us.

If they've got service and they can pull the website up on their phone, yep.

They can pull over if they stop at one of the stores, do it right in their car right then.

Yeah.

This reported concern, and one of the things I ran into was it asked for the address.

And it was uh pothole or if it's a street light, it's hard to you know what the address is.

Yeah, it's the problem location street number, street name, uh street numbers where it is because there's a uh red star there.

So it's a requirement, but you don't know what it is.

So I had to had to fake the address.

I knew the street and I could in the description tell what's at.

But uh you put the data and you have to re put the uh address in, and that uh you know we can remove the street number as a I think just play field and just make sure I ran into that.

So I had to fake what the address was to get the uh information in.

The what?

We could have the cross streets.

Uh they probably put that in the brief description.

Okay.

Cross street of Bataglian, 11 mile corner.

That's what I did.

That's what I'm saying.

Or they could put if we take it off as a requirement, then they can just put whatever in there, and then it won't matter.

It'll just show up on the report back.

It goes to Lorena since she oversees it and then she forwards it to that department director.

What if you don't want to put your name and address and you kind of want to snitch on somebody?

Or something.

Well, it it mostly it's for so follow-up.

So if you submit it and there's an issue, we're able to follow up with you.

Say we're you're not sure where that address is, or you put that cross street, but we go out there and we can't find it, so we know to call Mayor Michael Powell.

The city offices will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

So we'll be off.

Um, we were just talking about this earlier, but the state legislator has started its session today.

So all of you have been receiving emails from Miss Mary Myers regarding legislative days occurring next week.

So please get back to her if you're able to attend those.

This Friday, the governor will be releasing her budget, so keep an eye out for that message.

It should be a good one.

Um Ada is starting a payment preservation program uh this week, and it'll be on I-10.

It's mostly going to be night closures, but they will affect all of our interchanges.

Toltec, Sunshine, Sunland Gin.

So just be aware of that.

That's going to be an ongoing project for the next couple of weeks as they do some pavement restoration project areas there.

That's going to be from Sunland Gen over Pass.

All the way down Sunshine.

Yep.

So that they're going to do that.

And then Mary sent out an email to everyone today.

Our groundbreaking for the exceptional healthcare hospital is going to be on February 23rd.

They're going to be doing lunch and activities for that, so please uh get back to Mary if you're able to attend that.

That's exciting.

We had to kind of do some scheduling changes with that group, but we settled on the February 23rd date, so we'll have dignitaries there.

Um anybody that can come, we're really excited about it, so we're pushing that out to the public to come to that groundbreaking.

That's a Friday, I believe, correct?

And then the last thing on my manager's update, and I apologize for taking up a lot of time right now.

We are finalizing the budget calendar for this fiscal year budget, and I wanted to confirm with council or if there's any opposition.

Do we still want to stick with that first Saturday in February for budget retreat?

Right now we have tentatively scheduled February 3rd, which is a Saturday budget study session 9 to 1.

If you recall this is where we just go through some of the CIP projects, we talk about what's on the list, strategize, prioritize, and get some feedback.

I'm good.

Are we looking at one day, eight hours, or are we one day nine to one?

Nine to one.

Yeah, but that's just to show you again what we've been working on for the last several months, present it to you as it is, and then get feedback from council and then move forward with finalizing that CIP, which then you will see throughout the next the budget cycles we work through all this in the coming months.

Maybe get an update of the projects that we've done already.

We'll do that too.

Things in the past that we are kind of in the past in the lacking.

As part of that session, will there be a uh portion of it which will be dedicated to council for more uh maybe what council would like to see in addition to what staff is doing?

Up for recommendation tonight is the approval of a comprehensive sign package for Love's Travel Stop in care of Mr.

Anthony Beavers, who is in attendance tonight.

This uh was heard at the last planning and zoning meeting at the end of December.

It is just a pretty straightforward sign package for Love's Travel Stop.

It's got pylons that will be visible from the highway, entrance signs from the road with additional signage on the building.

Uh it went through planning and zoning with no comments.

It was unanimously approved at the last meeting in December.

Uh it's all the package was presented in the packet for you all to review.

Happy to answer any questions related to that.

As I stated, it's a pretty straightforward common package that we see throughout.

We have them already in place at the loves that is on Toltec right now.

But uh Mr.

Beavers is here if there's specific questions related to it that he'd be happy to answer for you all.

Um I think I'd kind of heard some undercurrent that there might be some further questions that the council wanted to discuss with regards to maybe some non-occasional meeting boards that may or you may or may not want to have uh a three-year term limit on there, but we're prepared to discuss those with you this evening.
