The Golden City Council held its regular business meeting on May 26, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. All seven council members were present. - Formal Protest by Councilor Cameron: Councilor Cameron read a formal protest into the record regarding the approval of Resolution 3306 (an intergovernmental agreement with the Colorado School of Mines) from the May 12, 2026, council meeting. He stated that the agreement lacks a definition of trail quality and does not hold Mines accountable for maintenance on city-owned property. Robin Shinn of Moms Demand Action accepted the proclamation, reading a statement emphasizing prevention and safe storage practices.
- LGBTQI+ Pride Month (June 2026): Read by Councilor Evans. The proclamation affirmed Golden as a welcoming, inclusive community and urged residents to celebrate diversity and build a culture of acceptance. It was accepted by those in attendance.

Uh having received no uh changes to the agenda, it is approved as presented. And we'll move to our public comment period. It is our only public comment period for this evening. I will mention that we did receive a public comment via email, and that has been added to our agenda. But if anybody else would like to make a public comment uh to council this evening, now is your time. Uh, you're welcome to come up to the podium and have three minutes to address council. I think everyone's here for the same thing. And we'll do proclamations later. I'm like you all coordinated for that. Um I forgot my color. Um all right, I'll close the public comment period and um move on in our agenda. Uh council staff response to public comment. I'll just note that I um did forward the public comment received to our city team and they are getting some information back. So um the public comment received via email is being looked into. I don't know if anybody has anything else, but we can move on to council staff comments and new business at this time. Councillor Kaczynski. Nothing on my end. Council Coffee. I just uh wanted to acknowledge the Memorial Day remembrance at the Golden Cemetery yesterday. It was uh sponsored by VFW Post 4171. Uh the American Legion Post 21, the Lions Club, and the daughters of the American Revolution were also there participating. So it was a great event. The clouds rolled in and cooled us all off for the ceremony, and then it they blew away and then the sun came back out and it was hot. But it it was a a great time, great chance to uh think about um those who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much for us. Thank you. Uh I'd like to thank the United States Marine Corps Memorial Foundation for inviting me to speak yesterday at their Memorial Day ceremony at the Marine Corps Memorial at the corner of 6th and Colfax. It was a beautiful ceremony in the afternoon. Wonderful music, bagpipers, um the weather held off until they played taps, and then there was a slight drizzle.
