Reappointing Mr.

Bradley Romines serve on the climate change commission of the Sandy and County of Honolulu for a term to expire on June 30th, 2030.

Members, we have a we have posted to the agenda a proposed CD1 version of the resolution.

For your information, the summary of the amendments is listed on the agenda.

I'll go ahead and ask the appointee to come up.

If you want to identify yourself and maybe just share a little bit about your experience to date and uh what you look forward to working on uh on the commission.

Yeah, aloha, council members.

Um, I'm Brad Romine uh Mahalo for considering me again for a reappointment to the Climate Change Commission.

I've served on the commission for about two and a half years now.

I'm very honored to have this opportunity to continue serving uh our communities and our city county uh city and county officials.

I'm a coastal geologist by education and research background with a focus on physical processes and natural and man-made hazards along our coasts, including shoreline erosion and flooding, um, which are imminent and growing challenges along our our beaches and in our coastal communities, which I'm sure many of you uh are aware of and are facing with your constituents.

Um these challenges are only growing with with climate change uh and sea level rise for many of our shorefront communities.

While I would be serving in an individual capacity, I do bring my experience uh as extension faculty with the University of Hawaii Sea Grant College program.

I'm based at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, uh, but work statewide with a focus on understanding challenges and priorities in our communities and government agencies and helping to integrate uh best available science and information in planning, policy, and decision making.

I work on coastal hazards with state and city government, including uh through a long-standing cooperative agreement with the state office of climate change uh state office of conservation and coastal lands, seeing firsthand the impacts uh we are experiencing from coastal erosion, flooding uh and helping to bridge build uh build bridges between our communities, uh, state, city government, and academia towards uh solutions.

My work with the commission so far has included updating uh the commission's climate change brief describing local, regional, and global impacts of climate change, uh, and finalizing an urban heat guidance document, providing a set of findings and recommendations to the city towards improved management and mitigation of heat stress and heat emergencies in our communities.
