Go ahead and get started.

0:04

I'd like to call this meeting to order.

0:06

This is a duly notice workshop meeting of Hudson City Council held in accordance with the Sunshine Laws of the State of Ohio, Section 121.22 and the City of Hudson Charter Article 3, Section 3.02 for Tuesday, December 10th, 2024.

0:22

Per ordinance 220.031 entitled Workshop Meetings and Item C.

0:27

Would now like to turn the meeting over to Council President Foster so as to continue through the remaining workshop agenda items.

0:34

I am going to turn the meeting over to President Pro Tem Sutton because I have a lousy upper respiratory cold, and so I'm isolating myself off to the side.

0:44

I doubt I'll be able to read through all of this tonight without hacking and coughing.

0:48

So please President Pro Tem Sutton, if you could.

0:52

All right.

0:53

Thank you very much.

0:54

Then we will move on to item two, which is correspondence and council comments.

1:00

Does anyone have anything they'd like to do?

1:03

Yes.

1:04

It was just a follow-up question.

1:06

Mr.

1:06

Sheridan, last meeting, I believe it was, I asked about the motel on Boston Mills.

1:12

The resident that reached out to me with concern followed up and I conveyed the message in your email.

1:18

That wasn't a good enough answer.

1:20

They want to know if there's anything Boston Heights can do in the meantime to reassure the neighborhoods in that northwest corner of the safety of the area until it is raised because it appeared as if in your email you had said that it needs to be demolished by May, but I don't think that they want to wait that long to be assured of safety.

1:44

They're concerned about broken windows and graffites.

1:46

So I know that can't really be helped.

1:49

But I don't know what your conversations were with the Boston Heights mayor around that, and they just wanted to know if we could follow up again with Boston Heights.

1:58

I I can.

1:59

I did mention it to my him in my original email.

2:02

Um he didn't really give me a specific answer on it that you were going to do anything other than it's private property.

2:07

I understand.

2:08

You know, so I don't I can ask the mayor again if yeah they have any plans or if they can use even the county state money.

2:14

But I will follow up.

2:16

Thank you.

2:16

I appreciate that.

2:19

Anything else?

2:21

Okay.

2:21

Nicole or sorry, Karen.

2:23

Oh, Chris.

2:26

Just very briefly.

2:27

Uh Planning Commission did pass the townhouse development on South State Route 91 across from the drive-thru gas station.

2:36

Um narrowly, um, three to two vote.

2:39

Um and uh they also completed the land development modifications and brought them back to city council, so they approved those.

2:51

Uh and they will be coming to council in January with their plans for the year, um, which primarily is going to include uh a second or tertiary request to allow them to update the land balancement code.

3:11

Um, sure I have a few things.

3:12

Um just another reminder that the Winter Wonderland Tour of Trees event at Case Barlow Farm this weekend is the final two days on the 13th and 14th from thought to 7:30 p.m.

3:24

admission and is at the door for five dollars.

3:27

Uh and also another final reminder that the cold weather clothing drive is still underway.

3:32

That will end uh this Friday at City Hall to be able to drop items off uh during normal business hours of City Hall.

3:39

And we will end that program this uh Saturday on December 14th with a drive-thru in the rear parking lot of City Hall from 10 a.m.

3:47

to 2 p.m.

3:49

Um and then the Boy Scout troop uh 333 is still selling trees at the cabin here in downtown if you're still looking for a holiday tree.

3:57

And um another couple items.

3:59

I met with uh another Girl Scout troop here in town hall to both uh last night to help them learn more about our local government and the city of Hudson.

4:07

They joined me here at the Dais as we held a mock meeting and went through a special agenda.

4:12

Uh this was one of the most engaged troops that I have spoken with.

4:15

Um, and as they had uh several great questions and comments, and while I know they appreciated all of the information shared, I think they really enjoyed speaking into the microphones and having them come out through the room.

4:26

So quick grade were they?

4:28

They were fourth grade students, and um they were great to have here.

4:33

So um always a joy talking to the youth of our town and surrounding area.

4:38

Um a couple other quick things.

4:40

Um I will be joining and helping out again with the senior holiday luncheon that the event is tomorrow in the community rooms at City Hall.

4:47

And then Council President Foster, you didn't mention it, and maybe Councilor Sutton was planning to, but uh the Lonsburg Chris Kindlemart is this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on the clock tower and gazebo greens here in downtown.

4:58

Thank you.

5:00

Thank you.
