We do have an upcoming event, um the annual walk away from drugs, but this year we are excited to partner with Mojave College's Human Services Health and Wellness class.

So students have been working alongside the coalition on a community-based prevention and recovery project connected to the walk away from drugs.

2:50

Throughout their eight-week course, students will explore community health and wellness while completing project phases designed to contribute to and strengthen the local event.

3:47

We'll have some testimonials given by um a couple of the band of brothers uh members that Stacey Lee runs, that group.

5:00

Williams if you please call the roll council members Nancy Campbell Jenny Coke here Kim Dolan Cameron Moses Michelle Lynn here Vice Mayor David Diaz Mayor Kal Shee here thank you thank you item five is our call to the public this is where citizens have an opportunity to address the city council on items within the jurisdiction of Lake Havasu city your comments are limited to three minutes and there will be uh our indicators on the screens around the room you don't have to sign up for call to the public uh and we didn't have anyone sign up for call to the public but if you'd like to address the council please make your way to the podium and state your name for the record if you are here for one of our public hearings this evening we do encourage you to stay and reserve your comments for that time because we can have a two-way conversation at that point call to the public we can just listen intently so with that if anyone would like to address the city council during call to the public please make your way to the podium good evening mayor council penny pew with Congressman Gosar's office and I just want to remind everyone that we are available to help with federal issues um veterans social security anything that is federal or you need a connection to the state we're happy to help we spend a lot of time up in Lake Cavasu and it's a wonderful place and a patriotic and we want to keep it that way.

6:15

So thank you so much.

6:17

Thank you Penny and thank you for your service to our residents would anyone else like to address the city council during call to the public mayor city council my name is Nancy Icheveria and I moved to how su in 1984 so I'm a 42 year resident back in 84 I saw a much happier have a suit here moved here with families planning on starting a business and uh young adults and retirees plan to start a new uh life here today we have people who move here with their toys whose only intent is to enjoy the lake on the weekends and holidays we have people who come here as renters and VRBOers we no longer have neighbors and neighborhoods we have absentee landlords or homeowners my concern is that our residential looks like a town in decline it's a town that looks as though it has no zoning no restrictions it's a town that allows any number of vehicles to be parked around a home not only on the driveway but on dirt and gravel so it is not unusual to see pickups trucks cars motorcycles off road vehicles trailers jet skis motor homes boats and RVs amidst weeds in what should be neatly kept yards sometimes these toys have obviously been abandoned in previous years and are sitting in the yard in a dilapidated condition two more words used to describe these yards trashy and ratty it is not unusual to see a weedy yard in the golf course area code enforcement says there is no weed control until the weeds get to be an unsightly two feet tall also there does not seem to be any restrictions against hoarders who stash possessions all over their property that should be stored inside a garage or a storage unit.

8:43

People are no longer coming here and having an interest in bettering our town large older homes in desirable locations are being purchased by people who obviously are operating businesses out of them or perhaps multiple families are living in a house in order to pay the rent or the mortgage the last time I talked to our code enforcement officer they had over 750 code violation reports.
