The village board met on July 27, 2026, under new Mayor Bridget Brennan. The meeting featured the swearing-in of Mayor Brennan, a proclamation honoring outgoing Mayor Sarah Bauer, the swearing-in of a new police officer and promotion of a new police chief, and a public hearing on a local law to amend zoning for gasoline service station convenience stores, which was adopted. The board also approved various administrative items, received a $447,927 federal grant for road safety, and heard public comments concerning parking issues and park maintenance.
Good evening. I'd like to call the meeting to order and at this time ask everyone if they join us in the Pledge of Allegiance. A pledge of allegiance. And two years. One nation. Under God. Individual justice for you. So we're going to take a slight detour from our agenda. The next thing is spiriting in Ma because we are lucky enough to have our House Representative George Vladimir here tonight. So I don't see George. Oh, there he is. There you go, George. I'd like to invite George up because he has like four or five more engagements this evening, but we were so fortunate to have him come here first. Well, thank you very much. Mayor Board. I'm happy to be here and I'm particularly happy to be here because when I go to Washington, I see the great national government that represents us all. I come back home and I see more democracy and more participation and more result in Larchmont Village sometimes than I see down there. And I'm particularly proud that uh you're honoring your your uh now past mayor, uh Sarah Bauer for the work that she's done and uh welcoming you, Madam Mayor, into your position and to do it in a way that shows that that we have competition, but when all the competition is over, your community and people together who care about the place that they live. That is encouragement that I need to get back on the Mtrack train when we go down to do the things we do. So let me salute you for for the work that you're doing. And my biggest uh way, my biggest headache is to try to figure out how can I get some money for the village on things that you need it for. So I think I did pretty well when I was a state legislator and a county executive, but new gig got to figure out how to get money out of uh the federal government. So we'll do our best. I'll try to do as good a job as you guys are doing. So congratulations to both of you, and it was an honor to be with you tonight. Thanks. Please repeat after me. Hi, Bridget Theresa Brennan. I I'm gonna take just a brief brief moment to thank a few people and before we move on, giving thanks to somebody else that deserves it as well. Um thank you. I just want to take a moment to thank all my friends and colleagues who asked me to consider this role. To the many community members who came to me during the primary and actually throughout this last month to encourage me and support me on this endeavor. To the former mayor and the board of trustees who had the confidence in me to not only do this role but to ask me to do it thoroughly. To the village staff, who has been incredible in trying to help me settle into this role and develop new projects right off the bat. And to my family, especially my husband, who I promised I'd have more time in December once I finished the term as trustee. Not only supporting me, but for encouraging me to run for mayor.
