The Lenox Select Board met on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 6 p.m. in Town Hall. Chair expressed gratitude to Kate McNulty Vaughan and Olga Weiss for decades of service on the Affordable Housing Trust. The board approved minutes, a consent agenda, appointed a new housing authority tenant board member, and adopted temporary sign regulations.
The board approved the following items:
Sonia Baikovsky (225 Main Street) asked about the new town website, noting difficulty navigating it and proposing a public training session. She also questioned the change from physical to electronic posting of meeting notices, recalling a failed Town Meeting vote on the matter. The board clarified that physical postings are still made in an outdoor plexiglass case on the north side of the building.
Housing Authority Tenant Board Seat – Two candidates applied for the vacant seat: Pascal Popa (Curtis building, French, retired, active in community) and Steven McQuaid (family housing side since 2021, veteran, primary caretaker for disabled son, potential relocation later in 2026). McQuaid identified key issues: rising utility costs not factored into rent, a multi‑year vacant unit, and tenants needing a voice. Popa emphasized community spirit and affordable rent. The board noted the importance of representing family housing and the possibility of Popa succeeding if McQuaid moves. Temporary Signs in Public Way – The board reviewed a draft regulation and permit application for temporary signs on public property. Key points: the planning board is working on a broader sign bylaw; these regulations are interim. Discussion focused on limiting visual blight, improving pedestrian and traffic safety, and fair enforcement. Members agreed to add a map showing prohibited areas (e.g., traffic islands, monuments) and require applicants to describe proposed locations. The board emphasized the need to avoid over‑regulation while curbing unauthorized commercial signs.
Good evening. Welcome to the select board meeting on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026 at 6 p.m. here in the town hall of Lennox. This is the Linux Select Board. I'm gonna call the meeting to order. First of all, from announcements from the chair. The Affordable Housing Trust has just had two trustees cycle off. And I want to express my sincere thanks to Kate McNulty Vaughan and Olga Weiss for literally their decades of service to this town with assisting all residents and hopeful Linux Lennox residents in finding housing in town, expressing their wishes for affordable rental and homeownership housing in the town of Lennox. They've both provided a wealth of suggestions. They've done a lot of hard work and they've really helped us with our housing production plans over the years and helped us provide the uh support and the interest in us getting the forge over the finish line and uh the second project that we're working with with Penrose at 238 Pittsfield Road. But I want to sincerely thank them for literally decades of service to our town. Um now I'd like to move on to Citizens Open Forum. Can you acknowledge who's recorded? Oh yes, thank you. Um we do not have Clarence Fanto here tonight, but it appears that um Sonia Baikovsky is taping tonight's meeting. No? No, you're not? Okay. CTSB, thank you. Never mind. Thank you. So CTSB is taping this evening's meeting. Um I would entertain Citizens Open Forum. Lennox residents are welcome to address the board for up to two minutes. We're gonna start with Sonya. I'm just gonna clarify just on here, because um Pascal and Steven, you guys are actually under an agenda item, so you'll be speaking under that piece under general business. So I'll just yeah, that's part, thank you. Okay, thank you. Sonia Baikovsky, 225 Main Street Lennox. And I do use WeRecord meetings, so just not today. Thank you. So you're you're on top of that. Um so I had a couple questions. One, I I've had trouble with the new town website with navigating it. I went in and talked to Paul, who is great, super helpful. One of the key things was I didn't even know you need to create account before you can see a calendar. So that was a big help. And he offered to help me in in the future, set up a time. And I just thought, well, instead of because I said, Am I the only one with difficulty? He said now no. So I just wanted to propose a meeting for citizens. If if he can if he's gonna spend time with me, just spend an hour with everyone to just get them acclimated to the new website how to use it. That's my proposal. And um, so please take that under advisement, and I would thank you for that too. And I won't bother him until he tells me if you're gonna schedule another one because I don't want to make him do double the work. Um the other thing is so when I was confused last week.
