Hi, I'm Kayla with Louisville Water.

0:19

Welcome to Above the Dirt Garden Shop.

0:21

We're here today to see how this amazing local business is using Louisville Pure Tap in their daily operations.

0:27

We're honored to be at the heart of their local business.

0:29

Let's head inside to learn more.

Speaker 3

0:31

So I've been dreaming of being a crazy plant lady for years.

0:34

And on the same day, my husband and I both drove by this empty gas station and thought, this could be it.

0:40

This could be the plant store.

0:41

And that night he came up with the name Above the Dirt, and we've been here ever since.

So

Speaker 3

0:46

I'm what I call an enthusiastic hobbyist when it comes to plants.

0:51

This is intended to be a very safe place for everyone to learn together.

0:55

Maybe we'll even Google it alongside you.

0:57

So caring for plants comes to a few things.

1:00

One, the best light possible, great water, and humidity.

1:04

So making sure each plant, whether it's inside the store or outside in the lot, is getting the light, the water, and the humidity it desires to thrive.

1:12

We use Louisville Pure Tap literally all day, every day.

1:17

Whether it be our native plants, our house plants, the veggie garden that we grow here, we are watering one, two, maybe even three times daily, and we use Pure Tap to do it.

1:27

The quality of water that we have here in Louisville is actually a rather big deal because you know we're buddies with other plant stores around the country, and not everybody is able to simply use their tap water.

1:37

They have to do these crazy reverse osmosis things to just water their plants.

1:41

We're here, I can just pick up a hose or a watering can.

1:44

It's actually quite nice.

Speaker 2

1:45

We're proud to give Above the Dirt Garden Shop the Made with Pure Tap seal of approval.

1:50

Thank you for your commitment to quality and for using Louisville Pure Tap.

1:53

Cheers.

A temporary power pole, often called a temp pole, is a standalone electrical pole that provides electricity to a location for a short period of time.

3:00

These are commonly used at construction sites, outdoor events, or after natural disasters when permanent power is not available.

3:10

To install a temporary pole, a permit must be pulled by a licensed electrical contractor to ensure that the setup is safe and complies with electrical code requirements.

3:22

If you have any questions about how to get a temp pole permit, please contact our office.

Hi, I'm Kayla with Louisville Water, and this is Made with Pure Tap, a special segment where we're highlighting some amazing local businesses that use water to make their products.

4:47

Here in Louisville, we're proud of our drinking water.

4:49

It's so good, we even gave it a name, Louisville Pure Tap.

4:53

Today we're at Rabbit Hole Distillery.

4:55

Let's go see how they're using Louisville Pure Tap to make their one of a kind spirits.

5:00

Hi, my name is Calvin's, I'm on Yun, and I'm the founder of Rabbit Hole.

Speaker 8

5:03

I started uh rabbit hole because I've always had a real soft spot for fine wine and spirits.

5:09

I cut my teeth in the hospitality business.

5:12

Louisville, of course, is the gateway to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.

5:16

It's my hometown now, and uh it's important to start a company here in Louisville in part because of the ingredients.

5:21

In addition to the grains, Louisville Pure Tap is uh a critical part of uh what goes into our products.

5:28

One of the most important things when it comes to water is to make sure that you don't have iron and sulfur, essentially ingredients that are not good for bourbon production.

5:39

And one of the most important things about Louisville water and Louisville tap is that it's essentially good water, perfect for distilling.

5:46

One of the things that makes rabbit hole unique is the fact that the distillery is set up like a culinary kitchen.

5:52

We make what I describe as extreme small batch, meaning that every batch is generally about 20 to 23 barrels.

5:59

But collectively, when you put the whole facility together, we're able to produce 27,000 barrels a year.

Speaker 2

6:05

Cave, we're proud to give Rabbit Hole Distillery the Made with Pure Tap seal of approval.

Louisville Metro Informational Segments and Business Spotlights — October 5, 2026

This program compilation, dated October 5, 2026 (17:45 UTC), consists of pre-recorded Louisville Metro and Louisville Water informational segments rather than a formal council or board meeting. No agenda or minutes were available, and no formal public comment, deliberation, or voting occurred.

Louisville Pure Tap Business Spotlights

  • Above the Dirt Garden Shop: The owner described using Louisville Pure Tap all day, every day, watering plants one to three times daily. She stated that Louisville's tap-water quality lets the business avoid the reverse-osmosis filtration that some other plant stores need. Louisville Water awarded the shop the Made with Pure Tap seal of approval.
  • Rabbit Hole Distillery: The founder described Louisville Pure Tap as a critical ingredient in bourbon production because it is free of iron and sulfur and is good water for distilling. The distillery operates in extreme small batches of about 20 to 23 barrels per batch, with total facility capacity of about 27,000 barrels per year. The business received the Made with Pure Tap seal of approval.
  • Elixir Kombucha: Co-founder Corey Wood said he and his wife Danielle launched Elixir in 2016 in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville. He described kombucha as a fermented sweet tea using organic tea, organic cane sugar, and a live SCOBY culture, and called Louisville Pure Tap the nation's best water. Elixir products are available at more than 200 retailers across Kentucky, Southern Indiana, and Cincinnati, and can be shipped nationwide. The business received the Made with Pure Tap seal of approval.
  • River Green Cocktails: Owner Danielle Mann said each 12-ounce can of her canned cocktails contains about eight to nine ounces of Louisville Pure Tap water. She stated that the company intentionally did not filter the water because, in her words, Louisville Pure Tap Water is the best water in the country. The Kentucky Proud company uses local ingredients, including honey from a bee farmer in Columbia, Kentucky, and received the Made with Pure Tap seal of approval.

Boards, Commissions & Community Programs

  • Althea Jackson, director of Louisville Metro's Boards and Commissions, highlighted the Brightside Board, a mayor-appointed board of 30 members that advises Brightside staff on content and programming. The board helps ensure all Louisville neighborhoods receive Brightside's mission to keep Louisville clean, green, and more connected.
  • Jackson also encouraged residents interested in serving on boards or commissions to visit the Louisville Metro website and search for boards and commissions, or call her office.
  • An unidentified segment noted work to evaluate programs and new ways to impact the lives of low- to moderate-income residents in Louisville.

Permits, Inspections & Land Use Information

  • A segment explained that temporary power poles provide electricity for short periods and are commonly used at construction sites, outdoor events, or after natural disasters. A permit must be pulled by a licensed electrical contractor.
  • A junkyard segment stated that junkyards are not allowed in residential areas and may only be set up in areas zoned for heavy industrial use, with a conditional use permit specifically for junkyard use.
  • Permit guidance noted that a property owner, architect, or engineer can apply for a permit without naming a contractor, but the permit will not be issued until a licensed contractor is selected and verified.
  • Homeowners may do electrical work on their own property only after obtaining an electrical permit and completing an affidavit stating the property is their main residence; the work must still meet code and pass inspection. Larger jobs, new panels, or high-voltage work should be done by a licensed electrician.
  • Electrical safety reminders included the need for GFCI protection in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas; AFCI protection in bedrooms and living areas; and caution against undersized wires and overloaded circuits.

Environmental Monitoring

  • Christopher Grimes of TetraTech demonstrated the proper abandonment of a groundwater monitoring well. He said the well provided access to groundwater data to detect possible contamination, and that data had come back clean. The crew pulled the 2-inch PVC casing, drilled out soil around the well, placed cuttings in a 55-gallon drum for laboratory analysis, sealed the hole with bentonite clay, and added topsoil so grass can regrow.

Transportation & Airport Promotion

  • A promotional segment for Louisville Mohammed Ali International Airport listed nonstop destinations including Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Charleston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Destin, and Detroit, and directed viewers to FlyLouisville.com.

Key Outcomes

  • No formal votes, motions, ordinances, public testimony, or decisions appear in the provided material.
  • The final segment began to celebrate the completion of Jefferson Rising Phase 2, described as an investment of over 50, but the transcript cuts off before the amount or further details are provided.
