The Merced Traffic Committee met on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the City Council Chamber. Police Department reported zero accidents in the area. Committee members explained that speed bump installation requires 100% approval from affected property owners and that owners would bear the cost. A motion to deny the request passed unanimously. During discussion, the committee suggested that traffic enforcement could address speeding and noted a potential need for speed limit signage on Arrowwood Drive; staff will review this as part of an ongoing speed study.

All right. Let's call the meeting to order today. Today is July eighth, two thousand twenty-five. Roll call by department. Fire. Casey Wilson. Johnny Lam. Public Works. Engineering Darrell Jordan. That's myself. Please remember to unmute your microphone when you were speaking. Speakers will be allowed three minutes. Please identify yourself and your city of residence. If you intend on using technology for your presentation, please leave a copy for the record. Avoid repeating what previous speakers have said. And if two or more individuals are present as a group and wish to speak on one side of an issue, please select a single spokesperson to present your views. Members of the public who wish to speak on any matter not listed on the agenda may speak during this portion of the meeting and will be allowed a lot of three minutes. Please identify yourself and your city of residence. The committee will not take actions on any item that is brought to their attention at this meeting. If it requires action, it will be referred to staff and are listed on the next traffic committee agenda. Laura, do we have any requests to speak forums? We do not. Okay. At this time, it is appropriate for any committee member to give an informational report of any work completed, training, or other items to share with the other members. The planning department is undergoing our general plan update. This is a blueprint for the growth of the city for the next 15 to 20 years. So it's a pretty big deal, but that's something that the planning department's been involved in. Thank you. PD, anything? Uh yeah, I would just like to add we have uh added one officer to our traffic unit, Officer Ageary. He started uh on Monday. He'll be working um full time in the traffic unit now. We also have our auxiliary uh motor officers uh that go out and do traffic enforcement as as needed, but uh it'll be nice to see the impact that he makes with uh reducing collisions, which is uh one of our priorities this year.
