Last week, our city manager, Mr.

Krieger was honored by the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference as the 2025 recipient of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Award.

Since its inception, Doug has served as an active member and leader with the Pension Fairness for Illinois Communities Coalition, a statewide coalition that advocates for legislative reforms to create a fair and sustainable public safety pension system.

The coalition was the driving force behind the creation of the Tier 2 public safety pension system in 2010 and public safety pension fund consolidation legislation in 2019.

And with multiple pension bills under consideration in the General Assembly in 2024 and again in 2025, Doug presented at workshops and briefings for DuPage communities as well as other councils of government in the region.

City Manager Krieger met with over a dozen individual local legislators in 2024 advocating for sustainable pension reforms, and he continues to serve as a valued resource to communities, legislators, and stakeholder groups on pension and municipal finance issues.

All right, it's my honor to present the proclamation for Juneteenth Day, June 19th, 2025, whereas Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates June 19th, 1865, the date when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, finally received word of their freedom, more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

And whereas Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder of the enduring strength, courage, and resilience of African American communities throughout our nation's history, and it encourages all of us to reflect on our shared journey toward freedom, justice, and equality for all.

And whereas City of Naperville recognizes and honors the cultural, historical, and social significance of Juneteenth as a time to celebrate black culture and heritage, acknowledge past and present struggles, and reaffirm our collective commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable future.

Tim Messer (Naperville) discussed traffic issues on the east side, including a series of stop sign additions at Chicago Avenue and Julian Street. He requested a 4-way stop at Chicago Avenue and Julian or Huffman Streets, and questioned why the west side received more traffic studies and calming measures.
