So we're gonna get started.

0:09

My name's Christy Nalt.

0:11

I am the wellness specialist here at the City of Nashua.

0:14

Been here since just January, so I'm still navigating, but um a resource for all things wellness.

0:21

Today we have Deanna with us from Anthem.

0:24

She's the wellness manager that services our account here at the city, and she's gonna take us through an Anthem Sydney app demo.

0:32

So Deanna.

0:35

Thank you, Chrissy.

0:36

So I'm Deanna, so I'm our local health and wellness program manager.

0:40

So as uh Chrissy mentioned, we're gonna do a walkthrough of the Sydney app today.

0:45

Um, a lot of folks don't realize that they can self-serve a lot of information from the app.

0:49

And as I refer to Sydney during the presentation, please just keep in mind that it is interchangeable with Anthem.com.

0:55

So if you are someone who prefers the browser version, that's perfectly fine.

0:59

You can do all of these things in both.

1:02

That said, we do encourage folks to use the Sydney app simply because you have it on the go, right?

1:07

So if you ever were to need your ID card and you're not expecting that maybe you need to go to the urgent care that day, right?

1:15

You're able to access all of the same programs, tools, resources wherever you are, as long as you have your phone on you.

1:21

Um so while it looks a little bit different, all of the same features are in the browser version, and your login is also going to be the same between the browser and the Sydney app.

1:31

Um, Sydney can be downloaded from your Apple App Store, Google Play, or wherever you get your apps from.

1:37

It is, of course, free.

1:38

Um, so that's Sydney with an S.

1:40

So let's go ahead and jump on in.

1:43

So what I have up on the screen here is once we've logged into our account, this is essentially your home page within the app.

1:50

Um, so the first thing I'm going to do or point out are just some key areas on the home page.

1:55

So we can see in the upper right hand corner, right here, you have an envelope, and in the demo site, there's a little red three on it, which is indicating that I have three messages on red in my inbox.

2:06

I can see that I have my ID card here, action items, which are items which Anthem would like to bring my attention to right here in the upper center.

2:16

And then there's going to be more information as I scroll down, which we'll get to.

2:19

And then from the toolbar, we'll go through these different options at the bottom here as well.

2:25

Let's go ahead, let's start with the message center.

2:29

And this is where you'll find messages for anything that Anthem may want to bring attention to for you, or it could be correspondence related to support.

2:36

Um, but you can communicate with support through the message center.

2:40

Um, and again, any it could be a reminder for an appointment, but you'll find communications directly from Anthem in your message center.

2:49

All right.

2:51

And next we're going to take a look at the ID cards.

2:54

This is a very handy feature.

2:56

And if you have multiple people on your plan, if you have dependents on the plan with you, you can actually toggle between the different ID cards.

3:03

So maybe if you're with your child for an appointment or something like that, um, very handy to be able to easily access all of those ID cards right from your phone.

3:11

You can see towards the bottom that there's this little share icon right here.

3:15

If I tap that, I have different ways in which I'm able to share the ID card as well.

3:21

Um I've actually used this feature.

3:23

I've actually used it twice.

3:24

I had my dentist appointment yesterday and I emailed them my ID card prior.

3:29

Um, I but I've also used that my annual exam.

3:31

Very handy and sometimes honestly even easier than pulling out the physical card.

3:34

Um, you know, uh, but especially if you maybe don't have your physical card on you for some reason, knowing that it's right there in the app is incredibly helpful.

3:45

All right.

3:50

All right, and then the next thing I'm going to do is take a look at claims.

3:54

So let's go to the toolbar at the bottom here.

3:56

And this is definitely, of course, one of the most utilized features within the app.

4:00

Um, we'll go to the second option from the left for claims.

4:05

Let's go ahead and select medical at the top here.

4:10

And then I'll select the claim which I would like to take a look at.

4:14

So we'll go with this one right here.

4:17

So here you're able to access all of the details for the claim, the explanation of benefits.

4:23

So all the information that you would get at anthem.com.

4:26

Again, you can access directly within the app.

4:33

A new feature that Sydney now has is tracking prior authorizations and the status.

4:38

So let's take a look at how to access that area within the app.

4:41

And this updates in real time, and it's the same information and the same updates that our claims team has.

4:48

So from the menu option down at the bottom here, we're gonna tap all the way to the right for menu, and then the top option for my plans.

Anthem Sydney App Demo for City of Nashua Wellness Program - July 25, 2025

This meeting was a demonstration of the Anthem Sydney mobile app, presented by Deanna, the local health and wellness program manager for Anthem, to City of Nashua staff. The session was facilitated by Christy Nalt, the city's wellness specialist, who joined in January 2025. The demo covered key self-service features of the app, including ID card access, claims tracking, prior authorization updates, find care tools, and wellness programs. The presentation lasted approximately 30 minutes, followed by a brief Q&A.

Sydney App Demo and Key Features

  • Deanna began by noting that the Sydney app is interchangeable with the Anthem.com browser version, but the app offers on-the-go convenience. Login credentials are the same across both platforms.
  • Message Center: Users can view communications from Anthem, including reminders and correspondence, and can message support directly.
  • ID Cards: The app stores digital ID cards for the member and dependents, with a share icon to email or send the card. Deanna shared a personal example of using this feature to email her ID card before a dentist appointment.
  • Claims: From the toolbar, users can select "Claims" to view explanation of benefits and claim details. A new feature allows tracking of prior authorizations in real time, with status updates and an option to file an appeal if denied.
  • Find Care Tool: Accessed via the "Care" icon in the toolbar. Users can search for providers by specialty, filter by virtual care or in-person, and use geolocation. The app also connects directly to Live Health Online for virtual care.
  • Programs and Resources: Under the "Menu" > "Access Care" > "My Health Dashboard" (indicated by an apple icon), users can access the 24/7 Nurse Line, Smart Shopper, and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The nurse line is available any time for health questions and can help determine if emergency care is needed.
  • Contact Support: From the menu, users can reach support via in-app chat, message center, or phone. Profile settings and language preferences are also available.

Discussion and Q&A

  • A staff member expressed appreciation for the demo and mentioned texting their son about the app. Deanna highlighted that the authorization tracker is a new enhancement, allowing members to self-serve status updates.
  • Another attendee (likely from HR) noted that many employees are unaware they can get their ID cards from the app, and that HR often has to retrieve them. They stressed the need to promote the app to reduce HR workload.
  • One participant reported difficulty accessing the fitness reimbursement program through Anthem.com, describing it as a "nightmare" and noting that reimbursement was never received. Deanna suggested that the program may be listed under the "My Health Dashboard" or programs section in the app, and promised to follow up. Christy confirmed they would revisit the topic.

Key Outcomes

  • No formal votes or decisions were made. The session served as an informational demo to encourage city employees to use the Sydney app for self-service health plan management.
  • Deanna and Christy emphasized that the app can reduce the volume of HR inquiries by enabling employees to access their ID cards, claims, and prior authorization status directly.
  • A follow-up on the fitness reimbursement navigation issue was promised, but no specific date was given.
  • Attendees were encouraged to download the free Sydney app from their app store and explore its features.
