in the old demandic chamber, which has been duly noticed in two places, including the city's website, in accordance with the requirements of RSA 91A.

The prayer will be offered tonight by City Clerk Dan Healy and Alderman Senate will lead us in the pledge to the flag.

Almighty God, we have the high honor and the serious duty to manage the affairs of our beloved city.

Fill us, oh God, with a spirit of unity and understanding, which enables us to face our multiple problems with a serene mind with justice and charity for all, so that any and all decisions made by us will always be for the betterment and greater happiness of all our fellow citizens.

So tonight we have a public hearing on resolution 25194.

Is there someone that's going to give us a little information about this?

Alderman Clemens.

Yes, I I I can if need be.

Need be.

All right.

So this um this came about this uh resolution um is putting a referendum on the ballot concerning social districts within the city of Nashua.

And what this comes from is legislation that was passed in the state uh this past uh spring, and it allows um cities and towns to be able to open up what they call social districts.

And what that is is it's a defined boundary within the city that allows basically open containers.

Very prescribed in how the um legislation is.

There's specific rules that the state has put into place that the city must follow if this were to be adopted.

In addition to that, the um even if this passes, this will still need to be adopted by the Board of Alderman with rules surrounding the area of where that would happen, the hours.

Um there would of course be public input stakeholders, things like that.

So a yes vote on this does not automatically make this happen.

Um there was some questions about why the um wording was so I guess minimal, which it just says, shall we allow the operation of social districts within the city of Nashua?

That's actually prescribed by the state law.

Um there are a couple cities, uh Concord being one of them.

It says the exact same thing, except obviously within the city of Concord.

Um, so the the meat and potatoes of this um really is do we want yes or no to allow this discussion to move forward?

A yes vote on that would continue that process.

A no vote would obviously signal to the city that the residents are not in favor of this.
