1:07

I don't see anyone.

1:08

Okay.

1:11

We do have the uh Greeley Park Advisory Committee.

1:15

Do we have people from that?

1:16

Yes.

1:17

Oh, yes.

1:18

Oh, okay.

1:19

Um we have a microphone over there.

1:40

Do you want to start?

1:41

Do you not need to?

1:42

If you'd like to start just I have to probably move the mic closer to you so we get you get um you're on TV, so you know some glasses.

2:04

Okay.

2:06

My name is Kathleen Lodey, and I am a member of the Greeley Park uh advisory commission.

2:13

Uh Fran Murphy here to my left is the chairperson, chairman.

2:19

And we wanted to come before the Department of Public Works to tell you that this is a new uh commission.

2:27

Um it started this year.

2:29

We have begun meeting.

2:31

And I this so this is really just an introductory uh meeting for us to tell you who we are and what we're doing.

2:42

And all of you know a lot of the history about Greeley Park.

2:47

So we've been digging into that a little bit more.

2:50

Um the park is used by many people, not just Ward 3.

2:55

I did an informal survey just the other day and walk through the park, and and there were people from other towns using the park, as you all know.

3:04

Um you are truly the public servants, so uh in taking care of all of our public uh facilities and our parks and this park has an amazing history, and and what we'd like to do as part of the commission is make sure that we preserve it for future generations.

3:26

Part of that is going to be um working on a master plan.

3:32

We'd also like to take the opportunity to start some marketing on social media about the park.

3:40

Um when you start to dig into who Joseph Thornton Greeley was, why the park was given.

3:48

Um there's a lot of fun facts there that people don't know about the park.

3:52

So we thought we would we would start a Facebook page for Greeley.

3:57

Um one of the other people on the commission, Alison Gallipo, is going to work with me on that.

4:03

And we thought we'd do some fun facts about the park because people are interested in it.

4:08

It's it's one of our most historic uh pieces of land in in the in the city, and we also wanted to be able to inform the public of things that are going on in the park.

4:24

So so it's not just left to parks and rec or DPW that we can be a little bit of a helping hand in that matter.

4:34

For example, if there are people complaining about the size of the plots of uh garden plots, perhaps the commission can make a recommendation.

4:44

Um perhaps that can then be referred to.

4:47

Okay, well, uh yes, we understand you'd rather have a 40 by 60 piece of of land for your garden, but the commission has recommended XYZ, and we're going to take that under advisement, or we're going to put that um rule into place for the park.

Commissioners expressed support and shared additional historical details. No votes were taken.
