I'd like to call tonight's meeting to order.

All right, as we begin our meeting this evening, we'll take a moment to acknowledge that we have a quorum of planning commissioners present with seven of nine commissioners in attendance.

Commissioners Breen and Corcoran are unable to attend.

Which kind of leaves me with nobody sitting behind me.

I don't want to get separation anxiety or anything from you guys, but I think we'll be all right.

Finally, the actions on the issues that we discuss are ultimately under the responsibility of the city council.

As a planning commission, we're here to help the council as our elected representatives to be fully informed to make the best choices for our city.

By statute, the planning commission strives not to engage with any party on the issues on our agenda prior to the meeting.

Should that interaction take place as a result of a business relationship or any other interaction, which we refer to as ex parte communication?

Commissioners will report that interaction when we reach that item on the agenda.

We'll now move on to the consent agenda.

This is this evening.

We have four items on our consent agenda.

Commissioners, do you want to pull any items for additional information or questions from staff?

All right, if not, we'll uh move forward with uh a presentation then.

Um we'll hear about uh we'll go with item C first.

Let's go ahead and do the let's go ahead and entertain a motion and do passage on the other two, and that'll save us some time later.

Introduce um Taylor Vandeveld, who will be uh giving us a presentation on item C and uh we'll follow that up with questions from anybody on the daisy.

Um for the city of Olatha, Pioneer Park, which is PR24-005, and the fire station number nine, PR24-0010.

Um, for the ease of discussion and presenting both of these, we combined both of them as they're in the same location and related to each other.

So starting out with the site in general, um, both locations are northwest of College and Woodland Road, outlined in red.

The proposed Pioneer Park is located in this larger portion on the property in approximately over 16 acres there.

And then two acres of this property is dedicated to the fire station number nine or PR24-0010.

Both properties are zoned to the agricultural ag district, um, which occurred in 2012 in the green there.

The area is predominantly zoned and surrounded by residential properties and city or county rule.

The feature land use uh designation um is conventional neighborhood in yellow, as well as secondary greenway in the lighter gray color shown on your screen.

So that kind of bisects the pioneer park area as well.

Both the public safety services and parks and open space are permitted by right in the zoning district and align with the designated land uses seen here.

Additionally, both of these sites are located in the Woodland Road Corridor plan, which is outlined here.

The star indicates the location of these two preliminary plans, and also aligns with the proposed future park, which is located loosely there.

So the Pioneer Park will help address future park needs within this overall area.

So diving in a little bit closer to Pioneer Park, we'll go through some of their site plans.

Again, the park is located outlined in red.

And then for ease of seeing the plans, we've rotated the plans.
