As we begin our meeting this evening, we'll take a moment to acknowledge that we do have a quorum of planning commissioners present with eight of nine commissioners in attendance.

Commissioner Chapman is absent this evening.

Welcome to those online as well.

Planning commission meetings are an important part of the process for interpreting and applying the city's comprehensive plan and the unified development ordinance.

It's important that our meetings are conducted with dignity and respect.

That applies to every person in attendance.

We strive to provide an atmosphere where the ideas and opinions of all participants are held in the highest regard.

Finally, the actions of the issues we discuss are ultimately under the responsibility of the City Council.

As a planning commission, we're here to help the council as our elected representatives to be fully informed to make the best choices for our city.

By statute, Planning Commission strives not to engage with any party on the issues of art on our agenda prior to this evening's meeting.

Should that interaction take place as a result of a business relationship or any other interaction, which we refer to as ex parte communication, commissioners will report that interaction when we reach that item on the agenda.

We'll now move to the consent agenda.

This evening we have three items on our consent agenda.

This procedure ensures that anyone that is interested in the case has full opportunity to participate.

We'll now move to the second public hearing, which is a request for the approval of a final plat with vacation of an easement for Olatha Industrial Tracks Third Platte, which is located southwest of Old 56 Highway and Lone Elm Room Road.

I'm filling in this evening for Bradley.

Hook A Bar for consideration this evening as an application for a final plat with vacations for Olatha Industrial Tracks third plat, which requires a public hearing for vacations per the UDO.

The subject property is located at 1225 West Pittman.

This is in the vicinity of South Lone Elm and Old 56 Highway.

This replat will establish lot lines, dedicate public easements, and vacate a portion of existing water line.

The property is located within the City of Olatha water and sewer service areas.

A new 15-foot water line easement is being relocated and dedicated with this plat.

You can see that highlighted here on the screen in blue.

Um utility goes around the perimeter in yellow here of the site as well as new sanitary sewer easements along the western portion of the property is being dedicated with this plat.

The plat is consistent with the revised preliminary site development plan that was approved this evening on our consent agenda.

This is a quick exhibit here, shows at the dark red portion of an existing water line that was previously vacated and then extending to the south.

The lighter red area indicates the existing water line that is being dedicated or being vacated this evening with this plat or being vacated with this plat.

All public notification requirements were met.

The applicant nor the city has received any correspondence regarding the plat application.

And therefore at this time, staff is recommending approval of FP 20, or I'm sorry, 20, I should say 25-0034 as stipulated in the report.

Okay, we'll move on to our announcements.

The first thing on our announcement, I'll take a note to personally congratulate one of our commissioners here, Jeff Creighton, in the most recent elections, was elected to City Council.

And the bad news is this will be his last meeting with the Planning Commission.

So he will be greatly missed throughout the process of the election.

I had multiple people ask me what I thought about Jeff Creighton being a city councilman, and my answer was always the same same.

That he will be an outstanding city councilman, and I think uh our city is a great benefit to have you in that role.

Um Jeff has spent 14 years actually on the planning commission in two different stents.

He was here from 99 to 2008 and actually served as the chair during that time, right?

And then most recently from 2021 to 2025.

During his time in the planning commission, he's also served on the comprehensive plan advisory committee and for Plan Olatha Comprehensive Plan, which is uh guides the growth and development of our community uh over a 15-year period.

So, Jeff, thank you so much uh for this.

We've actually prepared a certificate of appreciation for you uh on your way out, and uh and you will be missed, although you're not that far away.

So we'll still see you.

We'll uh take a moment to uh take a photograph.

So just real quickly, I just want to say thank you and uh it's been an awesome run, and I am going to miss this body more than anybody knows.

It's just uh been a great uh time, and I know I'm gonna get to work with staff and everything, but working with you all every two weeks has always just been a great uh great amount of fun too.
