This has been a long winding path that involved action by the state legislature, approval by the governor, and then back to the county uh for them to put out a rest for proposals.

Those proposals will do back by our understanding a few weeks back.

4:24

And so we're waiting to hear from the county to hear that a contract has been signed.

Summary of Proceedings

Pleasantville Village Board Regular Meeting - May 13, 2026 (transcript indicates May 11)

Note on date discrepancy: The provided agenda and transcript date this meeting as Monday, May 11, 2026, but the meeting date is given as May 13, 2026. This summary uses the given date per instructions, while noting the conflict.

The Village Board of Trustees met on May 13, 2026 (as designated) at Village Hall in Pleasantville. The meeting included announcements about upcoming events and a public hearing on Sunday morning field hours, followed by unanimous approval of 13 resolutions covering budget transfers, payments, hires, and the 2026 Pleasantville Music Festival.

Announcements

  • Upcoming events: Pleasantville Day (May 16), Memorial Day observance (May 25), Fire Department Parade (May 29), Pleasantville Music Festival (July 11), and five Civic Space concerts (June 27–October 24).
  • Red light camera at Saw Mill River Parkway and Grant Street: awaiting county contract award.
  • Lenar project (102 townhouses): referred to Planning Commission; Lenar may show flexibility.
  • Gas-powered leaf blower ban begins May 15; homeowners are responsible.
  • Conservation Advisory Council will give away saplings (native species) at Pleasantville Day.
  • School district budget vote on May 19.

Public Hearing: Local Law 4 of 2026 – Sunday Morning Field Hours

  • Proposal: Amend Village Code to allow organized sport events on village fields starting at 9:00 AM instead of 11:00 AM on Sundays.
  • Public comments:
    • Serge Budson (31 Clark Street, 38-year resident, abuts Soldiers and Sailors Field) opposed extension, citing noise and traffic disruption; noted amplified music is intrusive. He asked for protection of Sunday morning quiet.
    • Molly Burnett (same address) objected to amplified music and urged regulation.
    • Shauna Traeger (President, Pleasantville FC) and BJ Mallon (VP, Pleasantville Youth Soccer) supported the change, saying 500+ kids in ASO and 120 in travel soccer need more scheduling flexibility. They noted WYS (league) asks towns to open fields at 9 AM; most neighboring towns do. Field use primarily at Faro’s Field (Parkway), not at Soldiers and Sailors or Roselle. They had no objection to banning amplification in morning hours.
    • Discussion: Board members considered a 10 AM compromise or applying the change only to Parkway Field; soccer representatives said 10 AM would help but 9 AM is optimal. They noted earlier starts would also allow earlier lacrosse games.
  • Outcome: Hearing left open until May 25; public can submit comments by email.

Resolutions Approved (all by unanimous vote)

  • Res. 2026-137: Approve meeting minutes of April 27, 2026.
