Welcome all.

0:01

A little bit behind schedule.

0:03

We just finished a work session with folks from the pedestrian committee and with Anthony Carr, a village engineer, regarding the question of speed humps and a draft policy that Anthony has put together.

0:15

That policy is available on our website attached to the agenda for this meeting at Pleasantville-NY.gov, as is always the case.ny.gov.

0:28

And so in a short period of time, you can pick up the Zoom recordings of each meeting also at Blozzville-NY.gov.

0:37

So our next regular meeting is in August on the on Monday, the 10th of August, village work session at 7 p.m.

0:46

regular session at 8.

0:49

I had a few announcements to wait to make.

0:54

First of them is a shout out to our rec staff and our parts department, as well as to so many residents of the village of Pleasantville for what was really, I think, an enormously successful uh civic space concert this past Saturday night.

1:13

Dan Slotnik band, they were great.

1:15

The weather was perfect.

1:17

It was really not only an extraordinarily nice event, but a manifestation of what we all hoped might happen in our downtown if we had a place for people to gather and enjoy themselves.

1:29

So shout out to everybody in the rec department for putting that all together and running it so smoothly.

1:34

Shout out to Soul Brewing, which provided the opportunity for folks to buy a drink.

1:49

Really, folks of all ages, I think had a great night.

1:54

So a big shout out to everybody on that front.

1:58

Three more are scheduled August 22, September 26th, and October 24.

2:04

Those are the nights for the future concerts.

2:25

Had an interactive website, and that interactive map where you could post stuff that you were concerned about, has now closed, had to come to a point where we put together this database.

2:37

The website itself is uh still active, and uh I totally encourage you to go to Pleasantville Safestreets.com.

2:45

Um later in August and into the fall, we'll be seeing a draft report from the consultants uh headed towards the final report in October.

2:54

Uh related to Safe Streets, uh, we're waiting to hear from the county about when the much discussed and long-awaited red light camera can be installed on Soma Parkway at Grant Street.

3:07

That has been a long and twisted path and retarded act by the state legislature and signature by the governor, and now a contract by the county.

3:16

We have been led to believe that the contract was close and perhaps had been signed, and that there was hope that this thing would be in place for the school district uh starting point after Labor Day.

3:26

We have not got confirmation of that yet, and we keep asking.

Speaker 2

3:30

Keep asking.

3:30

If anyone's reporting on this, we keep asking.

Speaker 1

3:33

We keep asking.

3:34

Eric asked last week.

3:35

I filed on this week.

Unassigned speaker

3:37

Uh

Speaker 1

3:37

we're copying uh all of the relevant folks, uh, including the folks uh in Ristrich Cousins office and Mayor Jan Shepsky's office, uh, both of them having

Unassigned speaker

3:47

been

Speaker 1

3:47

uh effective advocates for us.

3:50

Just want to mention again the county pumped it out again today.

3:53

Uh, there is quite a sophisticated scam going on in this region and maybe more broadly with emails going to people who have some sort of an application before a municipality, building permits, planning applications, zoning applications, whatever.

4:08

Uh quite impressive, painfully uh authentic seeming emails requiring that people pay money.

4:18

Any such email you get, you should treat with uh great suspicion.

4:23

Come back to the relevant department and ask whether it was real.

4:26

The odds are high that it is not.

4:29

Just a reminder to folks, gas flowered leaf blowers are uh not permitted in the village uh after May 15th and uh until September 15th.

4:39

Um so uh if you are aware of uh neighbors or landscapers using leaf blower gap covered leaf blowers.

4:48

I encourage you to ask them uh to follow this rule, but certainly not to get into an argument.

4:54

If you have a problem, you can reach out to our building department.

Unassigned speaker

5:00

Uh we very much encourage folks to um follow the rules, which I think have have largely uh benefited everybody.

Speaker 1

5:07

Um last thing I have my list.

5:09

There is a uh an emergency blood drive going on this Thursday, three days from now, uh July 30th at the Bloodsville Firehouse.

5:19

Uh and anyone who is in a position to uh donate blood, it would be uh very much appreciated.

5:24

Walk-ins are uh welcome, uh, but appointments are preverred and strongly encouraged.

5:30

You can go to NYBC.org uh slash donate blood uh and find out quite a bit more.

5:40

You can also call 800-933-2566 to make an appointment again Thursday, July 30 at the Bleasville Firehouse.

5:49

Anybody else have announcements or reports?

5:51

Mr.

Speaker 3

5:52

Mayor, I had one.

5:53

Um the New York State Department of Transportation is getting ready to repave Manville Road, uh, which is welcome news to a lot of people.

6:01

Um it's part of a wider recleaving project uh in the area, but it will run basically from Peace University uh to the old village, skipping over the section that we recently did for the Manville Road corridor improvement project.

6:15

So that will be uh exclusively at night.

6:18

Um it should have minimal impacts during the day.

6:21

But as they move through these neighborhoods, um, you know, it there'll be some some light impacts and and whatnot whatnot, but they're gonna do full repaving, then also um the sewer drains and stormwater drains as well.

6:34

They'll rehab those.
