Welcome all to the dog days of the summer.

0:08

Today is Monday, August 24.

0:11

And this is the regular meeting of the Village of Pleasantville Board of Trustees.

0:15

We have only three of us tonight, David, Paul, and me.

0:20

Yemi and Nicole are elsewhere as the summer winds up.

0:24

So we have an abbreviated list of things to do tonight.

0:28

And we did not have a regular work session, as is always the case.

0:32

You can pick up the Zoom link for this meeting or any other at Pleasantville-NY.gov.

0:38

And within a few days, the recording of this meeting is available at Pleasantville-NY.gov along with the recordings of previous meetings.

0:47

We will be back on our regular schedule work session at 7 regular session at 8 on Monday, September 14th.

0:57

So I had a few announcements to make.

1:10

First off, I was not able to be there.

1:13

I was out of town this weekend, but by all reports, a very successful civic space concert.

1:17

Were you guys there?

1:18

That's what I wasn't there.

1:19

Yeah,

Speaker 2

1:20

it was okay.

Speaker 1

1:21

But by all reports, a very successful civic space uh concert in our series.

1:26

Uh there remain two more.

1:28

In the next one is on uh Saturday, September 26th.

1:33

And uh the closing one in the fall is Saturday, October 24, all at 7 p.m.

1:39

So uh thank you again to Mike Newman, uh Kristen Treza, Mindy Rogers, uh Kerry Ramirez, all the folks down at the rec department for putting all this together and running it.

1:52

It's really been a great thing and tremendously well received.

1:54

So I won't uh bore you with the details uh yet, but there's a sports swap plan where folks can uh donate sports equipment that's in good condition that they don't need uh down at the recenter, and then uh pick it up.

2:09

Uh uh anything you want that would take place on Saturday, September 19, but more on that to come.

2:15

Uh similar arrangement for a Halloween swap coming up.

2:18

Both of those have been great opportunities

Unassigned speaker

2:20

to

Speaker 1

2:21

clear out your closet with stuff that uh could go to better use.

2:26

Couple of updates to make.

2:28

Uh, one of them is uh that we still haven't got word from the county about whether they have committed to a vendor to put up the uh series of red light cameras that will be going on county roads with the one that will go on the Solmett Parkway Grant Street.

2:45

We continue to press them.

2:47

We have no word about that yet, but by the county's report, they are close to having committed to a vendor.

Unassigned speaker

2:55

And

Speaker 1

2:55

hopefully, when I report on this on September 14, we'll have better news.

3:00

Um quite a bit of conversation going on about electric bikes and electric scooters, particularly kids riding them.

3:09

Uh, I know the school district is uh considering and very likely will act on their next meeting agenda to uh uh require kids to walk an e-bike or scooter.

3:22

I think this is the their plan.

3:25

Uh, you would not be allowed to ride an e-bike or a scooter on school property.

3:30

Um kids of 16 or older are allowed to ride ebates uh on the street, which is where you're supposed to ride them.

3:39

But we've been seeing quite a bit of activity with kids who are clearly younger than that, kids uh riding without helmets, kids riding with somebody else on the back, uh, which is taking the normal kid activity uh on a pedal bike to a new level when they're riding what is in some cases almost a small motorcycle.

3:58

So very much encourage parents uh to be uh responsible in advising their kids about how to use an electric bike or an electric scooter to make clear to them the risks, and as a matter of parenting to assess in your own mind whether you think you have a kid who can be making mature decisions on a split-second basis riding a motorized vehicle.

4:19

So cool has been a great season, continuing obviously through Labor Day.

4:23

Thank you to all who have participated.

4:25

Crossing guard jobs are uh available at 2250 an hour.

4:29

If you're interested in a crossing guard job, uh please uh reach out to Eric Verwa at the Pleasantville uh police department.

4:36

That's EBYRWA at Pleasantville-NY.gov.

4:41

Eric is the administrative uh sergeant who is keeping track of all of that.

4:47

Uh the county is hosting a number of 9-11 services.

4:53

Uh and there will be an interfaith prayer vigil taking place on Thursday, September 10 at 5 p.m.

5:00

at the Kensico Dam Plaza.

5:02

There'll be a memorial service on Friday, September 11 at 2 p.m.

5:06

at Kensico Dam Plaza.

5:09

Both of those will be streamed on Facebook Live and on the Westchester County homepage.

5:13

And if anyone has a family member or someone who died on 9-11 or of a 9-11 related illness and would like to be involved in either of these two memorial events, uh, you're invited to contact communications at Westchester County NY.gov.

5:30

Anyone else have a report?

Unassigned speaker

5:33

No,

Speaker 1

5:34

no, the last report I wanted to make.

5:36

Um, we continue to receive a bunch of letters with uh folks who have opinions about the proposed LENAR development uh that uh is proposed for 102 townhouses on the site up behind the Bank of New York, former Bank of New York site, uh and on that site up past Foxwood.
