First, on our agenda today, we have the appointment of the following individual to the Prince George County Planning Board of Maryland National Capital Park and Plan Commission. Ms. Gloria Lawla appointment replacing Manny. Term expiration 615 2027. I'll pass it to staff for an overview. Good afternoon, Madam Chair and members of the County Council. As um Chair Orietta had said, uh today we're here to discuss the appointment of uh Secretary Gloria Lala to the Prince George's County Planning De Board Planning Board. As the chair mentioned, uh Miss U Lala will replace uh Mr. Giraldo with the term expiring June 15, 2027. The county executive's appointment transmitted package is on pages six through thirteen of your virtual binder. Uh I believe we have do we have Miss Cannon here to give an overview of uh uh Secretary Lawless qualifications and willingness to serve. I'll turn it over to her. Thank you. Good afternoon, madam chair, Mr. Vice Chair, and to the esteemed members of this committee. It is my pleasure to submit on behalf of County Executive Bray Boy for your consideration the appointment of Secretary Secretary Gloria Lawler for appointment to the Prince George's County Planning Board of the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission. Secretary Lawler is a distinguished leader with decades of exemplary public service at the I'm sorry with decades of exemplary public service experience at the local, state, and national levels as the former secretary of the Maryland Department of Aging and a former state senator. She has an outstanding record of advancing policies that improve the lives of Maryland residents, especially seniors and families. Her leadership has been instrumental on a range of state commissions and legislative committees, where she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fiscal responsibility, community development, and inclusive policy making. Secretary Lawler's career spans more than five decades and includes serving as chairs, chair of the Maryland Commission on Aging, President of Women Legislators of Maryland Foundation, and Federal Liaison Officer at Bullby State University. She has extensive experience working collaboratively with government agencies, community organizations, and legislative bodies to help shape policies that promote smart growth, equity, and sustainability. Her work as a teacher and administrator in public schools further underscores her dedication to education and community empowerment.
