are live at this time correct correct and we're just waiting for a uh quorum yes okay no no i thought we were now so what's the date on the e-waste collection drive exactly because I need to participate I got a whole bunch of batteries and stuff ongoing okay well just so you know this is something that anybody from the public can this has nothing to do specifically with the parks and recreation commission meeting however a question was asked about the key rear rancho beautiful e-wake e-waste collection drive and that's something that is ongoing we have some small collection bins um at city facilities for things like cords and cables batteries but just so you know all of those things can also be collected as you need from your waste management at your door service yes so please don't no I know that I call them up and I can make an app and they leave it there computers can I take them to them any computers any type of electronics can go through your waste management account the at your door we don't have even though it says that we have cell phones laptops tablets keyboards um we can we can take those items to some degree um but we can't take the volume of them so you don't want my 55 inch TV no that would be something that you would definitely arrange through the waste management at your door service they literally will come to your home they'd not only take electronic waste and that includes everything from again cell phones computers TVs monitors um everything of that kind of electronic they also will take any type of chemical or hazardous waste household hazardous waste so that includes your batteries whether they're rechargeable batteries alkaline batteries car batteries um they'll take paints pesticides herbicides um thinners uh solvents um any almost any kind of uh cleaning solution anything that you might generate in your home that is a chemical uh what you would do is you would contact waste managements at your door service they would then walk you through the process take your address your waste management account um once you've given them an idea of the types of material that you would want them to pick up they will then send you the the bags and the labels to label things and they literally come to your door to pick all of those up sometimes electronic waste may be picked up separate from say chemical type waste it's just because they have their own uh contractors or subcontractors that come and do routes on a regular basis throughout the city so and it's it's basically part of your waste management service so there's no charge to you directly it's it's absorbed by the entire city's participation um in that program I've done that I think I filled out something online and then they got back to me.

Yes and we started using um these boxes called terracycle boxes um they're smaller prepaid shipping boxes and so one will say cords and cables uh for example uh these kinds of your your earbud cords um the charging cords various cords and cables from that weird electronic device and you don't know where this block with the the cord goes to anymore you you take those though those will all go in there and it's shipped back to TerraCycle which is in a different state um and then they literally sort it they have a targeted recipient for their the materials that they're collecting um so we also have at some of our facilities uh we'll have bins that are for like mechanical pencils pens markers so the plastic type tubes and they will take that they'll process it to be recycled um we've done uh also things like binders like three ring binders that type of material and other presentation materials um but the cords and cables tend to be pretty popular people had been asking about the batteries uh but honestly again um while we're allowing this kind of consolidation or or single point drop off um it's again something you can also don't you don't necessarily have to amass a large amount um if you if you want to you can talk to your neighbors and see if you want to pool it all together we can have a labor management easy and then call e-cycle day yeah well I guess you could I don't know if there's a certain point where it becomes a commercial volume but you could go you know and call waste management and have a few homes represented by that collection if you want to as long as they're able to document um what was picked up because they'll still create what's called a bill of lading um meaning that this is where the material was sourced from this is where it ended up have to track anything that's electronic or hazardous waste

So there used to be a number that you could call through the Department of Health, and they had certain drop-off locations.

Yes, and we for a short period of time through our household hazardous waste collection program when we funded that directly ourselves through the Keeper Rancho Beautiful Division or City, and they funded that through the division.

Um, we did have certain days where we partnered with say with the um you have quorum now.

Uh projects update, Diane.

Good evening.

Um, commissioners.

At the last meeting, I talked about quite a few projects we were wrapping up at the sports complex.

So now instead of going over old news, I'm going to talk about some things that we hope to wrap up in May, and then some things that we hope to start in May and hopefully wrap up in the fall or early winter of 2025.

So we're hoping that by May 3rd, the little league lights at the Rio Rancho Sports Complex will be fully operational.

At this time, they are working, but they are not programmable, and there's certain things that the manufacturer must go lighting needs to do before we can consider them fully operational for lighting the fields for little league play and practice.

Um but we're hoping that we'll be ready by May 3rd.

Um the construction work has been pretty timely.
