The staffing crisis at the Rockford 911 Center has reached a fever pitch, and it's time the leaders and decision makers of the city here from the people being directly affected by it.

I knew stepping into my role that my life would shift.

I would be expected to work extended hours, miss holidays with my family and make sacrifices to better serve our community.

But I never expected the treatment we are currently receiving and the demands put on us.

In July alone, I worked 285 hours.

Only nine of those hours were voluntary.

On top of the 14 regularly scheduled 12-hour shifts, totaling 168 hours, 276 hours were forced mandatory overtime.
