It's my pleasure to be here to present an annual update from the planning and development services department. Just kind of a high level about our key responsibilities for those who don't know. We implement the long range planning policy for the city. That is the policy that is laid out by city council in the strategic plan. Um and then carried forward in our comprehensive plan. So the all the long range planning for the city, the framework by which the city is going to grow as prioritized by City Council and City Management. It is our responsibility to help implement that policy into real life. We process basic land entitlements, so that's zoning and platting to help prepare a property for development, and then we manage the land development process from start to finish. So that's site and subdivision improvements, all the civil engineering, building permits, building inspections, all the other inspections that have to go on. We write and maintain all the development regulations that pertain to any given property in the entire city. We assist property owners with planning and development questions. A lot of times it's what can I do on my property. Sometimes it's what can that person do on their property or this field behind me. What can that be developed into? Um we always urge people, members of the public, our residents, to call us if they have questions with anything because we're very accessible and we love to help educate people about zoning and the land development process. And we also handle sign permits. It's a kind of an overlooked uh responsibility and duty, but it has a high volume of permits. Every sign in the city, essentially, whether a freestanding sign or something that's on a building, goes through our office. I'm gonna talk a little bit about the organization of our department. Um your fearless leader here. I've been with the city about coming up on 15 years now. Uh been in this role about two and a half years or so.
