Uh this meeting will come to order.

Welcome to the May 1st, 2023 regular meeting of the land use and transportation committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

Happy International Workers' Day to everyone.

I'm Supervisor Mirna Melgar, chair of the committee, joined by Vice Chair Supervisor Dean Preston and Board of Supervisors President Aaron Peskin.

The committee clerk today is Erica Major, and I would also like to acknowledge Matthew Gnao and Jeanette Eganlauffelfett at SFGov TV for staffing this meeting.

Madam Clerk, do you have any announcements?

Yes, the Board of Supervisors and its committees are now convening hybrid meetings that allow in-person attendance and public comment while still providing remote access and public comment via telephone.

Public comment will be taken on each item on this agenda.

Those attending in person will be allowed to speak first, and then we will move to a remote call-in line.

When connected, you will hear the meeting discussions, but you will be muted and in listening mode only.

When your item of interest comes up and public comment is called, those joining us in person should line up to their right near the curtains.

And those on the telephone line should press star three to be added to the queue.

Item number one is a resolution recognizing the decommissioning and deconsecration of the current site of Congregation Benae Imuna in order to form and relocate the new congregation.

Uh colleagues, this is a proclamation.

Uh we uh introduced it because this is a little piece of San Francisco history that is important to the Jewish community on the west side.

Um this congregation was started by a group of uh Holocaust uh survivors who uh moved from Europe to Shanghai, China, uh, because at the time uh it was a port city that did not require visas.

Uh and together they found a home in San Francisco.

Uh the uh congregation met and uh had its uh services in German for uh a large part of its um history, uh and it is now uh a small congregation that is merging with another one in moving out of this uh building where they've been for a long time.

And so uh we are just uh proclaiming and commemorating the day, and I would appreciate your support.

Um so thank you to uh Supervisor Melgar for introducing this item and the co-sponsors.

There is a lot of history at the Southeast corner of Terra Bell Street and 46th Avenue.

I have particularly fond memories of leaving for Jewish summer camp on the bus from that location.
