This meeting will come to order.

Welcome to the May 22nd, 2023 regular meeting of the land use and transportation committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

I'm Supervisor Dean Preston, ordinarily the vice chair of the committee, but acting chair today in the absence of uh Chair Melgar.

I am uh joined by uh President Aaron Peskin and uh Supervisor Matt Dorsey, uh, who is filling in for our Chair Mayer Melgar.

Uh the committee clerk today is Erica Major, and we want to thank the team at SFGov TV for staffing this meeting.

Madam Clerk, do you have any announcements?

Yes, the Board of Supervisors and its committees are now convening hybrid meetings that allow in-person attendance and public comment while still providing remote access and public comment via telephone.

Public comment will be taken on each item of on this agenda.

Those attending in person will be allowed to speak first, and then we will move to a remote call in line.

When connected, you will hear the meeting discussions, but you will be muted and in listening mode only.

When your item of interest comes up and public comment is called, those joining us in person should line up to their right.

And those joining us on the telephone should dial star three to be added to the queue.

If you are on your telephone, please remember to turn down your television and all listening devices.

Item number one is an ordinance amending the planning code to allow continued use of existing shared spaces in specific public parking lots in Misson Street Neighborhood Commercial Transit District without triggering abandonment of the underlying vehicular parking use and affirming appropriate findings.

Members of the public who would like to speak on this item just need to press star three, and you'll hear the system indicate that you have raised your hand in confirmation.

Herrera, uh, legislative aid for Supervisor Ronin, uh, and also I believe uh from Mr.

Starr uh from the planning department.

Uh thank you, acting chair and supervisors.

Anna Herrera, legislative legislative aid for supervisor Ronan.

Uh the planning code amendment before you is very narrow and will clarify that in the mission neighborhood commercial transit district.

If a portion of a public parking lot is utilized as a shared spaces patio, it will not be considered abandoned.

This amendment amendment is necessary in order for at least one beloved small business in our district, Caseman's Bar, uh, to continue to operate their shared spaces patio.

The owner of the parking lot and the casements bar co-owners and the community surrounding the space are supportive of this change.

And uh I would like to thank Aaron Starr from planning, who is here to answer any questions as well.
