Welcome to the January 27th, 2025 regular meeting of the Land Use and Transportation Committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

I am Supervisor Mirna Melgar, Chair of the Committee.

I'm excited to be serving with uh new colleagues on this committee, Vice Chair Cheyenne Chen, who is unfortunately sick today, and Supervisor Bilal Mahmoud.

Uh so welcome.

So excited for that.

We also have uh Supervisor Dorsey here who's going to present on the first item.

Agenda item number one is an ordinance amending the planning code to allow assessors parcel block number 3912 lot number two, also known as 99 Rhode Island Street, to exceed the cumulative use size requirements in production distribution and repair district one design district.

Affirming the planning department's secretetermination, making findings of public necessity, convenience, and welfare under planning code section 302, and findings of consistency with the general plan and the eight priority policies of planning code section 101.1 Great.

Thank you so much, uh, Chair Melgar, and uh good afternoon to uh Supervisor Machmood.

Um first I'd like to thank Chair Melgar for scheduling this item, and I'd like to congratulate you, Chair, on your continued leadership of this committee at a critically important time for land use in our city.

I know this committee and the policy realm it oversees is going to be very well served by your attention to detail, expertise, thoughtfulness, and hard work.

Um to Vice Chair Chen in Absentia and uh to Supervisor Mockmood.

Um if you don't know this yet about Chair Melgar, she does the dishes.

Um that that means figuratively the hard and often unheralded work of this committee, and that doesn't mean you're off the hook for doing dishes too.

Um, but I just uh want to appreciate your leadership.

Um congratulations to both of you also on your uh appointments to this committee.

I know that we're gonna be doing a lot of great work over the next two years.

Um this legislation before you will enable a new educational institution at 99 Rhode Island Street in the Show Place Square neighborhood by allowing both personal service and school uses to exceed the existing use size limits.

Um today you are opining on the use size limit policy change, not the individual owner and user of the building.
