Yes, agenda item number one is an ordinance amending the health code to require general acute care hospitals in the city to report annually to the Department of Public Health the number of and certain demographic information regarding patients transferred to a health facility outside of the city to receive subacute skilled nursing care and patients who qualify for subacute skilled nursing care but are not transferred to a health facility outside of the city.

And thank you, uh Supervisor Safai, for joining us and just for all of your leadership on this really important issue of how to address our city's um uh deficit of subacute care beds.

Um thanks for bringing this conference forward.

Uh so this has been an ongoing conversation from the minute we came into office and when CPMC negotiated uh with the city.

There was unfortunately a clause in their negotiation that allowed them to eliminate subacute beds at St.

Luke's Hospital.

At the time, the notice was sent out to families and subacute patients that they would be basically sent out of county.

And with the elimination of all those beds, there would be no more subacute in hospital care in the city and county.

We were able to work with CPMC.

They transferred the patients over to the Davies campus, uh, but it's still highlighted for our city the lack of subacute care in San Francisco and the need for that of subacute in hospital care in particular.

Many of the patients are indigent and their families don't have the ability or the time to travel outside of the camp county to see people that are essentially living on ventilator support and other support systems within the hospital.
