Hello and welcome everyone to our special meeting today, June sixth, twenty twenty-four. It is now three thirty-seven, and we will begin our meeting. Sing a quorum, Madam City Clerk, may you please call the roll. Councilmember Rogers. Here. Councilmember O'Krepke. Here. Councilmember McDonald. Here. Councilmember Fleming. Here. Councilmember Alvarez. Present. Vice Mayor Stepp. Here. Mayor Rogers. Present. Let the record show all council members are present. Thank you. We have one uh agenda item today, and that is item three point one. And to introduce that item, I will pass it on to Madam City Attorney. Thank you, Madam Mayor. Council members. Um we have um, as you all know, some exciting news. Uh Councilmember Rogers, uh, welcomed a new baby into his family. Um, we are excited for Councilmember Rogers. Um, and here today in order to um have council do something that it is required to do under rule IF of your rules and protocol. Um Councilmember Rogers uh last attended a regular city council meeting on May eighth, um, and was absent from the last two regular council meetings on May twenty first and June fourth earlier this week. Um, under rule IF of the City Council procedures and protocols. Um if a council member is absent without uh council permission from all regular city council meetings for thirty days consecutively from the last regular meeting he or she attends, his or her office becomes vacant and shall be filled as any other vacancy. Although Councilmember Rogers has informed staff that he plans to participate in the next regular city council meeting scheduled for June eighteenth. Um all the way till the end of June out of an abundance of caution should he be unable to attend the June eighteenth meeting as planned. So it is my recommendation that the um council by motion approve council member Chris Rogers' absences from all regular city council meetings from May first, twenty twenty-four through the end of June twenty twenty-four.
