At its regular meeting on August 4, 2026, the Santa Rosa City Council (with Council Members Fleming and MacDonald absent) addressed consent items, received staff briefings and reports, and took action on two major housing-related items: the renewal of the state Prohousing Designation and the extension of the High-Density Multi-Family Residential Incentive Program. We can jump ahead right away to item 8.1, our community empowerment plan update. And we have Miss Wood this evening. Welcome. Good evening, Mayor, Vice Mayor, and members of the council. My name is Misty Wood, and tonight I'll be briefly presenting the community empowerment plan update for the month of August. I'm going to start out with one of my favorite events, which is happening right now, which is National Night Out. This is an annual nationwide event to help build police and community relationships. Our Santa Rosa Police Department and Fire Department are out at Dick's Sporting Goods from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight. This is a free family-friendly event, and we encourage everybody to attend and get to know our police officers in a very relaxed and fun setting. Next up on August 8th, Recreation and Parks will host its annual Park a month volunteer program at Rinkin Valley Community Park. And that'll be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. So feel free to show up, bring your friends or show up by yourself and meet some new people along the way. On August 15th, we have a creek cleanup hosted by Santa Rosa Water at the Prince Memorial Greenway. Anybody who's interested, meet at the Olive Park Footbridge near 1698 Hazel Street at 10 a.m. Uh this one does require a sign up, so please visit srcity.org/slash calendar to sign up for that cleanup. Also on August 15th, the Rural Cemetery Preservation Committee will host their monthly volunteer workday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Projects include cemetery beautification efforts such as painting and other landscaping projects and maintenance work. Live at Jewel Yard is happening from July 12th to August 16th, so it is still ongoing on Sundays. This is a free uh quite a large event at Juilliard uh Juilliard Park here in downtown Santa Rosa. Everyone is invited to join in this free celebration for concert dates and artist lineup and additional details.org slash live at Juilliard. And then finally, we are kicking off once again our district-based community meetings with council members and community advisory board members. Our first one is on August 26th. Um this will be with Mayor Stapp, Councilmember McDonald, and community advisory board members Clay Dalton and Andrea Rodriguez. This will be at Montgomery High School from 6 30 to 8 p.m. on August 26th. So this is an opportunity to get to share your feedback, learn more about how the city works, and have direct access to your elected and to community advisory board members.
