The planning commission is charged with carrying out the California planning and implementing of plans, ordinances, and policies relating to land use matters, assisting in writing and implementing the general plan and area plans, holding public hearings and acting on proposed changes to the zoning code, zoning map, general plan, tentative subdivision maps, and undertaking special planning studies as needed.

Santa Rosa Planning Commission Meeting - April 8, 2021

Department Report (Amy Lyle): Provided an update on long-range planning projects: a new equity and public health planner hired, a Missing Middle Housing Ordinance (grant-funded, 2-year process), a historic resources survey for downtown station area, a multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan, a future Mendocino Avenue specific plan, and the General Plan update (adoption late 2022/early 2023) including a new Housing Element based on RHNA numbers.
