The City Council convened at 6:00 PM on October 26, 2022, in a hybrid format. All five council members were present. The meeting featured two proclamations, public comments, councilmember reports, unanimous approval of the consent calendar, acceptance of a $50,000 grant, and a study session on commercial building electrification reach codes.

Moving on to presentations, item number one is a pre proclamation recognizing October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Thank you. And um I'd like to say that the South San Francisco continues to be an inclusive city, and that we want everyone to know that they're welcomed in this city. And so it's my honor to recognize as October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month. And for it reads recording in progress. And whereas in 1945, President Truman established National Disability Employment Awareness Month and issued the first national call for disabled people to access all the opportunities and rewards of work. And whereas 45 years later in 1990, the Congress came together to pass the Americans Disability Act, the ADA, which helps to ensure our workforce is more productive, prosperous, and inclusive by banning disability discrimination, including in the workplace. And whereas workplace work workplaces welcoming all the talents of all people, including people with disabilities are a critical part of our efforts to build an inclusive community and strong economy. And whereas studies have found that Americans with disabilities are especially productive and motivated workers, but they still have a harder time getting jobs, promotions, and fair pay. And whereas there are three times they are three times likely less likely than others to be employed and often earn sub-minimum wages for their work. And whereas this month, let us continue the legacy of generations of disability rights activists with a fought for equal employment opportunities, integrated workplaces, and equal pay for equal work. Now, therefore, the city council of the city of South San Francisco recognizes the 77th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month and pledges to continue to take steps throughout the year to recruit, hire, retain, and advance individuals with disabilities and work to pursue the goals of opportunity, full participation, economic self-sufficiency, and independent living for people with disabilities. And this is signed by the entire city council. And I see Scotty out there who I have asked to accept this proclamation. So Scotty, I'm gonna meet you up in front of the podium right there.
