By so many people.

And I I distinctly remember those neighborhood meetings in high in school cafeterias and other places pre-COVID, which were really well attended.

We got tons of public input to make this a really special plan.

And we are so excited about from city staff to actually deliver to you a draft final plan that was put online on Friday for the public to see, and which we'll start officially reviewing tonight.

And I think you know we have a series of joint meetings with the council and the planning commission over the next few months to really dig deeper into this plan.

And you'll hear a lot about that tonight.

But I want to thank the staff as you have already done.

Um, but they have done a Herculean job.

Uh Billy Gross taking the lead from uh uh the staff side and everyone at ECD uh as well as our partners uh that have been that have gotten us to this point.

So uh so without much further ado, I feel like uh you know, introducing uh a new Broadway hit or something.

Uh, we'll turn it over to uh Billy Gross to uh work with the team to lead us through tonight.

Uh welcome everybody.

And actually, I'll hand it over to Eric Yerkovic with Ramian Associates.

Um he'll walk us through the presentation.

And then uh staff is actually obviously happy to answer any questions you might have as we go through the process.

Um I just want to thank you all for having us here this evening.

I'm gonna cue up my slides, so give me just a second to do so.

Um as you all know, my name is Eric Yerkovich.

I've met all of you now multiple times over the last uh three years, as uh Mike pointed out, and Ramian Associates is the lead consultant of a big group of planning firms and design and mobility and environmental firms who help work through the process with the community to develop the general plan and climate action plan.

And tonight is just a really exciting night.

I I think we are here to really release the public draft general plan and climate action plan, which is really informed by community values.

The general plan sets forth that vision for the future of South San Francisco, building on the community values of livability, diversity, inclusion, sustainability, and innovation.

The general plan covers everything from city parks and services to environmental protection to social equity to housing, mobility, and much, much, much more.

Um tonight's meeting really kicks off a multi-month process to solicit feedback on the general plan and climate action plan.

Um tonight we split our discussion into two parts.

Uh during the first part, we'll go through bullets one, two, and three on the screen now.

Uh, we'll start by reviewing the general plan process and community engagement to date.

We'll discuss the structure and organization of the general plan, and then we'll highlight what's happening next and then how to provide feedback uh on the general plan and climate action plan for particularly for members of the community who are here with us this evening.

Um at that point, I'll we'll pause and then we'll take any kind of general questions or comments from council and commissioners on the process or the engagement or the plan structure itself.

And then after that, we will go into and present and have a more of a discussion on a series of quality of life components of the general plan and provide you with an opportunity to start giving us um some feedback, ask some questions, and provide us some comments.

At this point, we don't anticipate that you've read the entire document.

It's a a lot of materials to review in advance, but rest assured you will be lots of opportunities uh for engagement and to provide us feedback throughout this process.

Um through this process, we're updating the city's general plan, climate action plan, and zoning code.

So I want to make sure that everyone knows that and that which ones are here and which ones are coming out next.

So the general plan really sets the vision for the future of the city.

It establishes the land use uh and mobility patterns across the city, and then provides policy direction uh for a number of topics.

The climate action plan builds off of the policy direction established in the general plan and then acts as the city's greenhouse gas reduction program.

So it inventories emissions, and then it assesses the effectiveness of a variety of greenhouse gas reduction measures.

Both the general plan and climate action plan are out for public review.

Now, to implement the pattern of future development across the city is defined in the general plan.

The zoning code establishes the development standards and processes by which project applicants would go through.

And then finally, an environmental impact report will be released to evaluate and disclose potential environmental impacts of the build out of the full general plan.

Both the zoning code and the EIR are anticipated to be released in quarter two this year.

Tonight is not the only time, as you know, to provide also feedback.

It's one of a series of meetings that we'll have scheduled with you over the coming months to discuss these plans.

So tonight is our kickoff, and we'll focus on those quality of life topics.

We will be back in April with focus sessions on the climate action plan and mobility and land use.

So give you more opportunity to review those materials in advance of those discussions.

And then at a minimum, those will be followed with discussions on the zoning code and then future adoption hearings.
