Um so as we move forward on this new uh housing development that is much needed in a community that has been decimated and has sort of been forgotten about.

Um I'm eager to see a new housing project, but I am my concern is that making sure that we stick um with working with the community, but also having conversations because when I went door to door talking to the community on the street of Ellison and the surroundings areas, no one has heard from the developers, and there's gonna be a major development that's going to um change that neighborhood, and it's so important that we keep the community involved and that there's someone there that is talking to them throughout the process.

So I urge that this new developer.

Um I I believe that they're gonna do right, but I we need to make sure that they do what they're supposed to do, and then make sure that the communion is involved and that the neighborhoods that are going to be um is is going to mess with the neighborhoods around, that they are a part of it and that they work with them so that they are a part of that community, and we don't forget about them.

So that's I would like to say that.

I think I want to fortify what council called South.

I think we we worked very closely together on this project.

A lot of us have um to make sure that we are engaging the citizens at Parkside Commons, but I think the mistake that we often make is we talk about the people living in buildings instead of actually talking to them.

Um we have made some terrible housing decisions over the last five decades in the city, and I'm hoping that this time maybe we can get it right and that we don't end up with another situation uh like we have in other places.

So um thank you to the city for for the administration for keeping us in the discussion.

Thank you to the developer.

They have responded to been to having more community meetings.

I think the way that they're advertising them has to change a little bit.

I think they need to actually knock on the doors of the the residents' apartments.

Um but uh we're going to watch very carefully exactly what happens at Parkside Comics.

Just want to kind of echo the the gratitude from Councillor Monto and Councillor Caldwell towards both the administration, my colleagues in the council, and to HCR um for kind of making sure that we're comfortable with with progress as it's coming.

Um I would further like to make note of the the difference in stated contributions of the development based upon the shelter rent agreement and what we heard in the committee meeting.

Um there's a roughly six hundred thousand dollar gap, and I believe that there are some efforts required by the city after that development is complete in order to recoup that that missing six hundred thousand dollars, and I encourage our colleagues on the second floor uh to make sure that we have the infrastructure and capacity to be able to do what needs to be done in order to regain that revenue.

Um, so we are finally about to vote on the the revocation of the right of way permission for flock in the city of Syracuse.

I want to thank the police chief and the mayor's office for being patient with us, and we obviously have been patient with them uh as we have moved to a different vendor for the contracting with our LPRs.

Um I think it is important for me to say that uh I certainly did not run for common counsel to do um anything but protect every single person that lives in the city, and that means every single person that lives in the city.

Our job is to make sure we are treating people fairly.

Our job is to make sure we are not tracking human beings that are driving to union meetings or taking their children to school, and our job is to follow due process.

That means we don't bust through doors without warrants.

That means when someone gets abducted from their house, they have due process, they actually have to go in front of a judge.

It does not mean that uh we as a city are okay with federal gestapo agents coming into this city and taking people from the jobs that they have worked for 20 years or the homes that they live in and own in this county or in this city or anywhere in this country.

So uh this item may be small to some people, but it's very symbolic to us as a city that we are not going to sit here and just say go ahead and trample all over people's constitutional rights.

So um I thank my colleagues for being patient with this item sitting here.

Um I think it's a step in the right direction.
