We're gonna start our first uh budget hearing for this uh year 2026-27 with me, counselors Hudson, Caldwell, Moore, Majok, and Machuk.

The council or the we would start with the clerks.

The clerk's office?

So our budget habit, uh, everyone, Trisha McBride, City Clerk.

Uh, the city clerk budget haven't changed much.

Um, and it kind of like doesn't, you know, we um we pretty much try and keep our budget um pretty um steady, you know.

There is a um there's a few changes that's gonna that you probably was that you will see um for the clerk one position.

Um the temporary services there.

We um we wanted to increase uh the amount because we kind of like go over with that temporary person that we have there, and you might see that there's two positions.

So in order um to increase that amount, uh we had to stay within the guidelines of um of um of um of uh one person right um uh yeah, yeah.

So um so I wanted to go a little bit higher, so that's why you would see two people there.

But um, it's not a bad thing because like um the person that we have there is a retiree, and you know um she's um you know, here and she mostly come in the evening.

Sometimes we need folks in the morning, so we can kind of like juggle it.

That's not a bad thing.

So I hope you all approve that.

And actually it's only been increased like 20,000.

All right, so the other thing is that um I'm bringing back um a request for the $15,000 uh for record keeping.

I want to uh venture down some roads for consulting just to see uh better ways that we can um put our records, store our records.

I am gonna talk to um to uh Vinny uh API also just you know just uh see what they have because they do have some great ideals.

Um other than that, um we're gonna increase our um our office supplies a little.

I think it's because the nader Nader uses a lot of paper, so they kind of like use to yeah.

Are you are you making all your files digital?

Um not all of not like um like what do you mean files like the council files that could people can uh apply online and then you keep the records online, you know, everything records that can be a go online is yeah, yeah, go online.

So yeah, you can obtain um you can obtain copies of um the minutes and um agenda I know you wanted to make the agenda that you can we could um by words find what we're gonna do.

Yeah, I'm gonna um you you we talked about a lecture a piece of legislation that was just passed recently making it um uh the ADA accessible and uh Vinny and I will be getting together what his staff I think that's a that's a great it's kind of like a requirement, so whatever we need to do, we're gonna do it.

You know, so if for people that are looking for licenses or maybe I mean other things that you do, can they do that online or do they need to come in in person?

No, the state well the the fishing license, if you want a fishing license, uh things like that.

Are any of our um information is any of the information that's out there in other languages for people in our community?

I mean, our community is so diverse with language that I don't know how people navigate some of the services.

Actually, it's not.

You know, I can look into that, you know.

Um, like the uh agenda book is not another language, you know.

Um so the answer is no.

I can look into how can we how can we you know make that happen or whatever?

You know, I know that we uh we are required to provide uh translators for for folks if they need them in any kind of for any type of degrees or for any type of reasons, but it is not to answer your question.

Yeah, I think I think going forward for the whole city, it would be good if we looked into having things in different languages if people are looking things up.

You know, we have like I said, there's so many languages spoken here.

Yeah, and they probably don't know how to navigate our service, yeah.

Yeah, we can talk to uh I mean that's a whole city thing, I guess, you know, because uh when you look at the website, it's got in several different languages that might be something you guys want to bring up, you know, or talk more about it or whatever.

Yeah, so if if you you just mentioned that that you may that that your office provides language services, yeah, it's do you do that uh on um by phone and what how do you think what's when there uh there is a um is there a cost to that?

Uh well if it has to be a cause, we kind of like require it to do it by law.
