On September 11th, 2025, the ad hoc committee for the annexation of El Camino Village held a meeting to receive an update from city staff regarding the possible annexation of El Camino Village.

1:50:47

Staff presented findings from the initial request to explore annexation possibilities, including key data on El Camino Village, such as the number of parcels, households, businesses, residents, employees, and the square mileage.

1:51:02

Staff also outlined the local agency formation commission or LAFCO process and explain the forecasted fiscal and operational impacts to police and fire services.

1:51:13

LAFCO has recently retained a consultant to complete municipal service reviews and sphere of influence studies and will prioritize El Camino Village in that schedule, given the interest of multiple neighboring cities concerning potential annexation opportunities.

1:51:29

LAFCO will announce its findings in 2026.

1:51:33

Following an analysis of the fiscal implications in conjunction with concerns pertaining to fire department response times and the identification of an optimal site for the construction of a fire station, the committee made a motion to accept and file the information presented and to hold for analysis underway by LAFCO.

1:51:52

In the interim, staff will persist in engaging with LAFCO through ongoing updates and discussions.

1:51:58

As chair of the ad hoc committee on annexation of El Camino Village, I would like to thank the public for their participation and all city departments in exploring various options and opportunities to expand and enrich our city.

1:52:12

The committee looks forward to bringing forth these items for council discussion and consideration at a future meeting.

1:52:18

Thank

Unassigned speaker

1:52:19

you.
