The Vandalia City Council held a study session on April 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM to discuss items on the upcoming council meeting agenda, including financial reports and the legislative calendar. The session was led by Mayor Herbst.
Are less than the budgeted amount by just a little bit. Um some of that is timing. Um it's kind of early in the year, so as we get through a little bit, I think we'll you'll start seeing that kind of level out a little bit and then exceed. Uh the expenses so far are more than the budgeted amount, but that is largely due to timing of capital expenditures, the CRA payment that we've already paid so far this date to date this year versus what we were last year. So that's definitely creating some of the timing issue, and that was to the schools if you recall. Um so but yeah, so far we're uh we're on track. It's just like I said, a lot of times, like we've talked about before, we front load a lot of expenses, um, and so that's gonna create some timing issues. Uh next slide, thank you. Uh the March income tax revenue. Um we are it's about 230,000 shy of where we forecasted. Um that is net of refunds. Nothing to be alarmed. I do anticipate that we will finish this year uh exceeding where we've forecasted, but um just right now again the timing is playing into it. Um we just got through a very successful tax season, so I do anticipate that uh we'll have some strong numbers coming at you uh at the end of July or uh April, goodness. It's been one of those days. Uh at the end of April that we'll talk about next month. Okay, so general fund year to date actual revenue for versus expenses. You'll see there, the expenses are definitely with the transfers again. Um those are superseding the uh revenue, so it's definitely higher. Um, and again, that's just largely due to that timing of the capital expenditures, uh, some of the transfers out, and then the CRA payment to the schools. And then finally, some of the uh those funds that are highlighted in green, um, those expenditures in uh 25 versus uh 26, um, and that's basically some of the uh projects that we had in 25. We're anticipating reimbursements in 26, it just crossed years. That's why the funds are negative there. Capital improvement uh fund that is negative um just because of the encumbrances. That is timing of any of the uh anticipated projects that we've got. I have not transferred the budgeted uh amount into that fund from the general fund yet, um, but that should be here very soon, and then that will help level out that fund as well. Any questions? I know it's you have all the information the same every year, but so so far we're on track. It's good news. Um can't I'm really looking forward to getting the final numbers from April.
