Well, good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

I'd like to welcome you to this evening's meeting of the Woodstock City Council.

A few brief announcements before we get started.

First, the meeting is being live streamed and is recorded on the city's uh website.

You can follow along with the agenda that will be will appear on the video monitors uh in the room.

We operate on what's called a consent format.

Consent format means that all items for action this evening are considered in a single motion or a single vote.

If a member of council wishes to have an item separately discussed and voted upon, they may uh request and have an item removed.

If the m if a member of the public would like to have an item separately considered and voted upon, they may make that request and if agreed to by a member of the council, then that item too will be separately removed and separately voted on and considered.

Um there are two opportunities for public comment this evening.

The first comes at the start of the meeting during uh floor discussion.

Members of the public at uh when I call uh for their comments can come to the uh podium in the center aisle if they're willing to do so, state their name and address for purpose of the record, and feel free to make comments to the city council on any item not on this evening's agenda.

Then when we take action uh have action items and votes, there will be another opportunity for public comment as well.

The record reflect that six of the seven members of the Woodstock City Council are present this evening.

Cindy, can you please confirm that the agenda this evening is the is the same as the true and published agenda?

It is.

That being the case, ladies and gentlemen of the council, uh the city's business is duly and appropriately before us.

First item this evening is floor discussion.

And uh before we get to public comment, we actually have two uh proclamations to make this evening.

And the first one is a reading into the record of and recognition of Dale Jandron for Coach Dale Jandron Day, which occurred on uh February 15th uh uh without objection, council.

Very well.

So I'll invite Dale and and Becky to please come and join me on the podium on the side here.

There I guess not.

So when um oh when city uh when city employees retire, I up we often or we definitely say, you know, that this is a bittersweet, bittersweet day.

And so for uh for seeing Dale Jandron retire, actually is a is a bittersweet day, but certainly one that's that's well deserved.

And uh I've had the honor of knowing Dale for um a couple decades now and being a very close friend, and I've seen his career and seen his impact.

Um this is actually beyond what he has done at uh Woodstock North High School.

In fact, the recognition from the city perspective is very much because of the impact that he's had on thousands uh of athletes in this in the city and thousands of families uh as well over his entire basketball career and involvement in youth uh in youth sports.

So come on in, Josh.

You almost missed it.

That was a good that was a good entrance.

So it's my honor to uh to read this proclamation that occurred on February 15th.

Proclamation declaring Coach Dale Jandron Day in the City of Woodstock.

Whereas Coach Dale Jandron has been a fixture in Woodstock basketball for over 20 years, coaching, training, mentoring, and developing thousands of Woodstock youth basketball players.

Coach Jandron is revered and respected for his efforts, perseverance, success, and impact on the Woodstock community.

And whereas Coach Dale Jandron has demonstrated exceptional skill in developing basketball players, maximizing the potential of teams, and instilling values in his players that extend far beyond the basketball court.

Coach Jandron has the unique ability to get more from his teams than the sum of their individual parts, and has had a great influence on players as they pass from youth basketball into adulthood.

And whereas Coach Dale Jandron has achieved his fifth consecutive winning season this year out of the six seasons he has been head coach.

Coach Jandron has a winning record over his entire W uh Woodstock North High School career with two 19 win seasons, a class 3A regional title, and two KRC championships.

And whereas Coach Dale Jandron has had the pleasure to have coached with both of his sons, Josh Jandron and Drew Jandron, who are here this evening, as well as have them join join him as assistant coaches during his successful tenure.

And whereas Coach Dale Jandron's wife Becky has been a constant partner, supporter, advisor, and an integral part of the success that Coach Jandron has achieved from his participation in youth sports, I'm sorry, youth programs, feeder programs, and Woodstock North High School's boys' basketball program.

Becky's endless support and contributions to all of these programs are worthy of special recognition and thanks.

Now, therefore, be it proclaimed that I'm Michael Turner by virtue of the authority vested in me as mayor of the City of Woodstock to hereby proclaim February 15th, 2023 as Coach Dale Chandron Day.

I say a few words, thank you for honoring us.

I appreciate that.

Um I couldn't have done it along the way without family and friends, obviously.

I couldn't have done it along the way with my without my two sons coaching with me.

I appreciate that.

It was a joy.

Most people get to uh watch them play, they don't get to coach with them.

And uh also for the kids that played for me over there, they play for the school with the name on their front, not the name on the back, and I've been blessed with that.
