Well, good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

I'd like to welcome you to this evening's meeting of the Woodstock City Council.

A few brief announcements before we get started.

First, a reminder that the meeting this evening is being live streamed and it is recorded and saved out on the city's website.

City operates under what's called a consent agenda.

Consent agenda means that all items for action this evening will be considered under a single motion and a single vote.

If a member of council wishes to have an item separately considered and vote upon, they may uh request an item to be removed, and it will have separate discussion and voting.

If a member of the public would like to have an item separately removed for consideration and voting, they may make that request, and if agreed to by a member of council, then it too will be separately considered and voted upon.

There are two opportunities for public comment this evening, the first being at the beginning of the meeting under floor discussion.

And then second opportunity, whenever we um take action on any given item, there'll be an opportunity for public to come forward.

If they if you want to do so during public discussion, come to the podium in the center of the room, and if you're willing to do so, state your name and address for purposes of the record and feel free to make your comments to City Council.

That being the case, ladies and gentlemen of the council, this people's business is duly inappropriately before us.

First item for uh on the agenda this evening uh is floor discussion, and we begin floor discussion with a uh uh proclamation for public works week.

Uh without objection, council.

Uh Brent, I'll ask you to join me at the podium on the side.

Uh on behalf of of the city council and and the citizens of Woodstock, it's absolutely my pleasure to uh uh to proclaim uh public works week uh May 21st through 27th.

Um Public Works is always doing the job that if it nobody there's no there's not enough glory in it, but if it doesn't get done, boy, there's a problem, right?

And so all of the things that public works um work uh oversees and manages for the city uh on behalf of the residents and behalf of council, we are very appreciative of all the things that we do that you do.

So thank you all very much that are here in attendance tonight, and Brent, thank you very much.

A proclamation honoring National Public Works Week 2023 and the Woodstock Department of Public Works.

Whereas the public works professionals at the Woodstock Department of Public Works focus on maintenance, facilities and services that are of vital importance to our sustainable and resilient community and to the public health, high quality, and well-being of the people of Woodstock.

And whereas Woodstock's infrastructure, facilities, and services could not be maintained without the dedicated efforts of public works professionals who are engineers, managers, and employees at all levels of government and the private sector for responsible for rebuilding, improving and protecting our community streets and transportation, parks and recreation areas, water supply, water treatment, and solid waste systems, public buildings and other structures essential for servicing serving citizens.

And whereas it is in the public interest for citizens, civic leaders, and children of in Woodstock to gain knowledge and to maintain a progressive interest and understanding of the importance of the Woodstock Public Works uh Woodstock Department of Public Works and the wide variety of public works programs they operate daily throughout our community.

And whereas the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated personnel who staff Woodstock Department of Public Works is materially influenced by the community's attitude and understanding of the importance of the work they perform.

And whereas the year 2023 marks the 63rd annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the American Public Works Association and the Canadian Public Works Association, and Woodstock joins them in designating the week of May 21 through 27, 2023 as National Public Works Week, celebrating the theme connecting the world through public works.

Now, therefore, be it proclaimed that the City Council of the City of Woodstock, on behalf of all citizens of Woodstock, wishes to congratulate and commend the Woodstock Department of Public Works and offer the communities deep gratitude for their dedication, hard work, and contributions to Woodstock residents' health, safety, comfort, and quality of life during this year and all the years ahead.

Adopted and approved by the Woods City Council of the City of Woodstock, McHenry County, the 16th day of May 2023.

Again, for all of us in Woodstock and what makes us a great community, you all you all provide the basics, the infrastructure, the things that we need.

And I know at times it's tireless and not always not it's sometimes a thankless job, but the work that you do is vitally important.

And uh all the residents of Woodstock and the City Council really appreciate it.

So uh Brent, on behalf of of uh of the city, thank you very much for the work you all do.

I want to thank you, Mayor, again, council, for your continued support.

Um also want to thank Roscoe and our executive team for all of your support and uh always uh remembering the challenges we face daily in public works.

Um so right now we have 45 full-time employees in public works.

We total roughly about 550 years of loyalty, dedication service, and support in this city.
